You know, there is no football in Memphis. You should look into that.

I think hockey fans are one of the biggest reasons hockey sucks. They want to prove to everyone how loyal they are all the time. "I was here when the place was empty". Wow, that's great. "Now we can't get a ticket to the game 'cause of all these bandwagon fans." Does the team owe you tickets? Morons...

I don't hate hockey (I actually like it) but I will say that their fanbase has the biggest inferiority complex.

I think it's because of the unique situation that happened with hockey here in Chicago with Wirtz/No TV/Trading away players etc. I'm not sure, but I doubt the average hockey fan in say New York/Toronto/Detroit is the same as as some of the fans here locally here. It's a badge of honor to some to say you were watching in the 60's-early 90's when the Hawks were a big team around the city, but honestly no one cares.

Only decent thing about hockey is the jerseys. Sometimes...

No. In the early 90s, the Sox were second to only MJ and the Bulls. Since, not so much. But you know, don't let facts get in the way of starting a Cubs Sox bitchfest. Something that yes I do, but not in this thread.

How about...

1. Bulls
1a. Bears

The Bulls owned this town for a hot minute. The Bears sucked and I honestly believe that was the only time they fell from the top spot in this town...

 Classic Frank. You still haven't stated any "facts" and you're the one that started this. If we're talking about which team was more "popular" in the early 90's, the Sox were not light years ahead of anyone. They enjoyed a slight boost in popularity for a couple years during that time period, but you haven't listed the "fact" that caused that. They still weren't bigger than the Cubs at that time though.

Ivan, lay off the weed. This thread sucks.

As I recall, most people didn't start paying attention to the Bulls until January, right after the Bears season was over, then it was Bulls-love into July - which worked out nicely since the Cubs were bad and nobody cared about the White Sox.

Here is the indisputable proof that Sox baseball was hugely popular in the early-mid 1990's.

I left work early in 1995 and walked up to buy White Sox home opener tickets because it was a nice day. The popularity.

1995 is post strike, as is spanky's picture most likely.
1991-94 Sox were the hottest ticket in town in the summer.

The end.

This is not even close to true. I was in High school during that time and went to a lot of games and there were a TON of empty seats every time I went. Sure they had more fans then than in 95, but that aint saying much!

I seem to remember a certain 20 strikeout game, in which there was a hit batter and a walk but was still apparently more dominant than a perfect game, in which there were about 12,000 people in the stands. And that was a year when the team made the playoffs.

Hockey blows. What the fuck is icing? Apparently its against the rules to hit the puck all the way down the ice? Now thats a good rule.
