Was able to get the retail release of the album last night. While I like the lead single and leadoff track, "Hole In The Earth", the rest of the album feels like a death march to me. I've always found that they're at their best playing uptempo ("Passenger", "Digital Bath", "Be Quiet and Drive"). The track "Pink Cellphone" is certainly....ahem...interesting, and worth a listen, however.

dude...this album kicks ass. it reminds me of adrenaline.
the song beware is killer...i love the plinky guitar during the verses and the hum like octave chord progression during the bridge/chorus'

i've discovered that there are multiple versions of songs on the web for this disc....8 songs are completely different from the official album version. and one has a new title entirely.

holy crap....my ears are still ringing.

what a fucking show last night at the Riv.
best show by the deftones that I've ever seen.
they played for a solid 2 hours but it felt like 20 minutes. you know it's a good show when that happens. they covered the gamut of their catalog and closed with "7 seconds!"

may have been another in there...but, I can't remember. the rest of the songs were pretty standard, though they didn't play knife party...

oh and Sparta opened!
I had no idea until just before we left that Sparta was the opening band....
they played quite a few songs from the first album. How cool is that?
