Not that there is really a need for an entire thread, but what the hell

Great show at the Abbey on Friday night. Never been there (now there are maybe one or two venues left in Chi that I haven't been to) and it was really a nice place. Nice little bar outside, not at all hard to get to, plenty of parking

I stood near the back being by myself and not wanting to get rip roaring drunk, I should have gone up front, there was a massive loss of energy standing near the back.

He certainly still brings it though, what other performer is playing 6 songs from their NEXT album at the tour for the current album? Also dusted off a few GBV classics that had never been played live before. All in all, a good night. This was the 3rd time I've seen him this year, and it still feels like not enough

This is one of several very positive reviews of the Abbey as a venue I've heard, and am looking forward to finding an excuse to catch a show there.

Like most smallish places it tends to get very hot.
Leave your coat in the car.
If you're cabbin it, T-shirt under a coat is the way to go.

Well it was pouring rain Friday night, but I was able to get a pretty good parking spot, so I left my sweatshirt in the car.

That's really the tough part- parking. At Metro I usually have to park blocks and blocks away, thus if it's cold out at all it's hard to leave clothing in the car.

But I never, never use coat checks. Don't want to pay, one, and two don't want to get into yet another mass of people on my way out.

Granted, I've never had to do this on a Cubs game night, but I've always been able to park in the same place when driving to the Metro. The half block north of Grace that Racine dead-ends at along side the cemetary always seems to have a spot to parallel in, and it's only about 3/4ths of a block away.

Glad I was able to catch the show at the Abbey, Bob is apparently retiring from touring.

Still putting out 7 (!) albums next year....

Not sure if anyone here is interested in Guided By Voices or is aware that the "classic" lineup has reunited and is playing a show at Riviera on 10/13 (moved from the Vic)

I have 3 extra tickets if anyone wants one, they were 39 each with fees, I just want to get rid of them so would take less for them.

It's going to be a great show for sure...classic era GbV stuff

Too big a venue for them. They should just do multiple nights at the Vic or Metro.
