Good to see the extended Ricketts family took a couple weeks off and went to Africa for a Safari.

They deserve it! What a grindey group they have!

For those of you that want to know what I would like them to do:

Fire Lou, keep the staff, bring up Ryno. This is assuming your plan is to have Ryno as manager, due to circumstances, time to accelerate the plan.

Fire Hendry, if they are going to look for new GM, I want that GM trading guys off for young players.

But I did get an invite today for my personal tour of Wrigley. Oh Boy.

Might even be a tryout

When I start a thread saying the same shit,I'm "Jimmy Meatball". Nobody dares thread on you though. Or do they? I'm with you 100%. All these "what good will that do?" clowns. My question is "what could it hurt?" Show Cub fans that YOU care as an owner. All I see is Mike McCaskey Lite,so far!!!

If they were going to fire Hendry, they would have done it in the off season. I guess they have confidence in him to move these inflated contracts.

Pinella...well, he's going to get paid so you might as well keep him.

As I said before, Hendry should be shopping Silva hard. It really is a perfect time to move him with a net result of having entirely gotten the bad Bradley contract off the books. It ends up being a brilliant recovery.

No way. Let Ryno season while over the AAA team for a while. Look, it's the players sucking balls. I don't care who manages them, they're still sucky. The team is doomed. Next year, clean slate. No Lee, Ramirez is gonna be gone (via trade before 7/31) I think you look at moving Zambrano too if you can, or maybe cut Koske's brake lines in his hummer too. THEN, with a nice new team of players that will suck for entirely different reasons, you bring in Ryno.

I was thinking the same thing about Silva. It would be nice if they can include more dead weight with it. Even a little do-nothing like Grabow.

Dear Mr. Fan,
Throughout the long, storied history of Wrigley Field, millions of fans have walked through its gates, taken
their seats, and cheered on their beloved Cubs. Many, like you, decided to make a commitment to the team
by purchasing Season Tickets and to you we want to say a special thank you.

On Thursday, July 8, you and a guest are invited to experience the Friendly Confines, both on and off the
field, at our first Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Day.

Walk along the outfield grass. Run the bases. Take a swing or two in our Batting Tunnel Arcade. Relax in
our exclusive PNC Club. And take pictures in front of our famous ivy.

Along with these activities, your Season Ticket Account Representative, as well as the rest of our front
office staff, will be available for questions, comments and conversation.

Some of you have been Season Ticket Holders for almost a half-century. You have seen years of success
and years of disappointment. You have seen some of the best players that have taken the field and players
whose names are forgotten. For others, this is Year One, just like the Ricketts family. Your name made it
to the top of the waiting list and you decided to make a very tangible commitment to supporting the team.
But no matter how long you have been a Season Ticket Holder, you all share one common trait – a passion
for the Cubs. For that, we are grateful. We look forward to thanking you in person on July 8.
To reserve your spot, please contact your Season Ticket Representative or call the season ticket holder
hotline at 773-404-4888. We are taking reservations for the 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
time slots.

My family and I look forward to spending time with you on July 8th.

TOM

No!!! This is Hooterville nonsense!!!! Fire everyone!!!! RARRRRR ANGST!!!!! They should FIRE Lou and Hendry and then FIRE whoever they hire next the next week! Just to send a message!!!!! Everyone is accountable! Then they should take Jeff Baker out and break one of his kneecaps!!!! Because they can!!!! Somebody needs to show these bums that this kind of effort isn't going to be tolerated! And what about a Toyota sign on the SHRINE!!!! Sacriledge!!!!! I wish we had the warm embrace of the corporate ownership of the tribune. Because when you think about it when has a corporation ever done anything to hurt anyone!!!!

 Wow Bernstein clone huh. Thats a first. The Cubs blow. This season is lost no matter who they get in here. Might as well ride out the money to Lou and then blow everything up. Its really not worth all of the hand wringing and aggrivation that has spread across like 5 threads on the same subject. Not to get all Chaspopppopocap but the Hawks just won the cup the Bulls have a chance at LeBron Bears training camp is like a month away It is a beautiful day outside. Why not just let the Cubs suck for a month then trade off whatever you can before the deadline. Do you really think making moves in management now instead of at the end of the year will have a legitimate impact on the team next year? I do not. But if you do thats certainly fine. I know I am not going to sway anybody but I just get sick of reading the same argument over and over again about how Ricketts needs to get off his ASS!!!!!!!! For what its worth if Hendry still has the GM job going into next year I will be just as pissed as the rest of you. But for now enjoy the summer and Brenly firing off on some shitty Cubs baseball.

Fire Lou & let Trammel Manage the team for the rest of the year. I wonder if the Ricketts can actually afford to own the Cubs right now since the economy tanked right around the time they bought the team, & as far as I can tell from everything that I've read about the Ricketts financially, they were stretched to buy the Cubbies.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Ricketts end up being short term owners.

Yes, they need to take control of the $900 million.

Revenues falling like a rock all over the Cubs emporium

Maybe they can sell the team to the Tribune Company who will use the team for TV programming?

Why didn't the heck didn't they sell the team to Cuban? It would've been awesome to see him jump out of the stands, run on the field after a game and get into it with the umps.

As a fan of baseball and Wrigley (but not the Cubs), I am enjoying being able to pick up tickets day of game in the lower rows of the sections 110 through 130 for ~2/3rds face-value (+ stub hub fees :x anyone seen any stubhub discount codes this season? I haven't seen any all season).

Yeah. Cuban offered 1.2 billion for the Cubs compared to the 900 million Ricketts offer.

I remember getting in a lame txt msg confrontation with either Danny B or Matty. Whoever it was would not even hear me out about Cuban owning the Cubs. Started calling me crazy and shit. The person never presented a viable argument as to why Ricketts was the better choice.

I doubt Cuban would be on safari his inaugural season owning the Cubs. Dude is uber passionate, and I guarantee the players would have loved playing for him. I wonder if the players would be playing dif if they had Cuban, and knew the bank wasnt completely empty. Most of these guys arent gonna see another contract from the Cubs.

This is a GOOD Thing. Most of the team is over paid & old and or "suck". Then again....Hendry would like to give them extensions and no trade clauses.

FUCK THIS TEAM. I have dumped all my tickets for the remainder of the season.

Trammel? The guy who Managed the 2003 Tigers? Look up what THAT team did under him. Besides, all Cub interim Managers(like Bruce Kimm and Jim Essian)are pitiful--just like this team which should have all been dumped in Puget Sound rather than flying back from Seattle.
The rest of this season is nothing more than GLORIFIED EXHIBITION GAMES, PERIOD!

In all fairness, that rebuilding operation in 2003 was such a baptism-by-fire that the great Joe McCarthy would've lost over 100 with that bunch. It's difficult to hold that against Trammell, and indeed, Leyland praised Trammell for guiding that core.

Lou's toxicity to this team is getting so high that turning the team over to an interim guy like Trammell would be a small improvement.

At least with Mark Cuban.....things would be moving along more quickly. He would be more inclined to eat bad money now than try to hope for the best, which is what the Ricketts are forced to do. I told some friends when they were so excited about the change in ownership..be careful about what you are getting excited about. Yes, the Ricketts are worth quite a bit, but they also cashed in a ton of their fortune to buy the Cubs. If they were as liquid as Cuban is; you probably wouldn't have the noodle or the Toyota sign. The Cubs are their business and it's going to be awhile and even longer if the team goes into the tank before they spend top dollar on the team. If they really want to do it the Red Sox way, fire Hendry and bring in Theo Epstein.
