I rewound it. He said it. That's awesome.

Agree entirely.

I jumped over to the Sox broadcast, and they were more focusing on Zambrano losing his shit ... that is to say, they perhaps weren't painting it as positively (???), I guess, as the Cubs' broadcast.

No, this isn't a referendum on either broadcast being right .... I think it's interesting that this incident happened when we could get two booth's views on the incident right away.

Either way, Z's clearly a penis no matter who's calling the game.

Agreed here too.

I know it's implausible, even perhaps foolish, but I think I'd be really, really happy if Z received his release tomorrow ... would be a much more useful "message" move than firing Lou.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's thrown his last pitch in a Cub uniform.

We agree on a Cubs thought. I'm glad I allowed one Frank in this section.

You are so spot on. This attitude needs to continue through the rest of the season now. If they are all singing kumbaya tomorrow after a good cry I'm going to lose my mind

There is no way the Ricketts eat his contract. They are too concerned about the financials.

Thus my preface that it was an implausible wish.

That said, I kind of don't get why they wouldn't do it. They're paying that money anyway - wouldn't there at least be enough reasons to entertain the thought that the marginal value of paying him to go elsewhere would be greater than paying him to stay here and be a shit-headed distraction?

Even if we come back to win this game, this HAS to be the end of Z's run in Chicago.

Put him on waivers. Get him out of the clubhouse. Hopefully someone claims him and it's not our damn problem anymore

I am not really arguing with this point. I have not seen a meltdown in the dug out like that for no real reason in quite some time. Everyone on this team is a dog and a loser. But I really doubt they just pay Z to stay away. Had he punched Lee maybe....but yeah I just don't see it. Maybe you can talk a desperate team into trading for him if the Cubs pay the majority of his salary. I mean hell the Mariners were dumb enough to take Bradley of their hands.

He's basically getting $18M for THREE more years (2013 is a player option). Who the hell would take even half of that?

NOTE: 2013 option is contingent upon him finishing 1 or 2 in 2011 CY Young voting or top 4 in 2012 Cy Young voting. No worries there.

Yeah nobody will touch that contract....Awesome. Another shrewd move Hendry.

Man can you imagine if say Dusty got his hands on Z again?
Look there's buyers. The Cubs might have to eat some of that salary but there's teams that would really like to have him.

According to Bruce Levine on ESPN 1000, there are two theories on the Z explosion...

1) Z was upset with Lee's effort on the ground ball down the first base line.
2) Z was upset because he thought the ground ball down the line was foul and nobody else would back him up.

Jurko and Harry are backing Z up, questioning Lee's effort, with Jurko saying that Z is just an "emotional player on an emotionless team" and should have gone back out for the 2nd inning.

Buddy just sent me this.

Mother of God someone needs to get Jurko out of there. His brain has been corrupted.

What a couple of dumbfucks .... though that's certainly not news to anyone.

Maybe in the 5-o'clock hour they can see who can say "I Love Carlos Zambrano" the clearest with each other's cocks in their mouths ... that'll be ratings gold.

If you look at the video of Z in the dugout, he comes in and is yelling at no one in particular. Lee was behind him just looking at him and must have been upset at something he said because it didn't take a lip reader to see that he said "Shut the fuck up". Twice. So maybe Z said something about his effort or whatever, but I think Lee just wanted the asshole to shut up.

Don't worry Cub fans. Rothschild just needs a couple more years to fix Z, & Lou will get this team turned around & back on track, & Hendry is working to rid the Cubs of his stupid contracts while scouting new players. NOT.

What a fucking train wreck. I hope the Sox sweep the series. Does anyone know if Tom Ricketts is still alive? Has he been seen recently? Is he at this series?

For what its worth I forgot about the Cubs telecast and had Hawk and Stone on during the meltdown and Hawkeroo was saying how he likes the fire that Zambrano has which is also really dumb.

Am I the only person that hears "Rothchild" to Iron Maiden's "Wrathchild" when I hear Larry Rothschild's name mentioned?

Here's a minor, non-important question:

If Z was taken out of the game after his tirade and he left down the tunnel, why did he re-emerge to the dugout for 5 minutes before leaving once again?

Did he want to see if anyone was actually dumb enough to accept his challenge?

I think its the passion he brings to the mound that sets him apart

I think he was dumb enough to think he was going back in the game.

That's essentially what Brenly's take on it was.

Posit: does Bernstein crucify Hawk & Brenly for saying they appreciated Z's fire and passion?

Why wouldn't Vizquel slide in that situation? Any good reason?
