The postings about Salisbury & Rosenbloom seem to have followed a pattern: People started out all irate, saying what a loudmouth know-it-all Salisbury is. There were some voices saying we should give him a chance until football season—apparently on the belief that his unparalleled gridiron acumen would turn him from an angry, blathering, sanctimonious jackass into a thoughtful, brilliant font of wisdom.

Needless to say, that hasn't happened.

So when people realized he was still the same frothing-at-the-mouth, "shutup-you-moron-you-don't-know-anything" jag, people were understandably angry. But now, the anger has passed, and people have just kind of given up. (Witness the posting: "Why Waste Your Time?") Now, I'm guessing people will be voting with their feet and simply not tuning in (except perhaps on Mondays, to hear the Bears talk).

Face it, 'MVP, the opposite of love isn't hate—it's indifference. People aren't writing here because they don't care. They just don't want to hear this guy. He's simply intolerable. The sooner you realize that and cut the cord, the better.

Nice post UFO. I think the most telling sign for me was when I heard a promo for the show start, and as soon as I realized who it was for, I quickly muted my radio. Is this really what MVP wants? Two guys who so annoy a P-1 that he turns the radio off as soon as he hears their voice?

Here's another one: On my late days, I drive home from the gym around 9:15a, and have 1000 on. It is LITERALLY a 90 second drive. Rather than listen to these two for 90 seconds, I turn on a CD or drive in silence. That's okay though, we only have another 2 1/2 years of Salisbury's contract to endure. And yes, I dry-heaved when I typed that sentence.

Don't you think that message board posts such as these and the numbers that they've been turning in may change this? What costs more, buying out Seanny's 2.5 years or bringing back lost listeners? I am a "lost listener" during 9-3 and I gotta tell you the last straw was the gdamn rosenblog.

I just did a quick search for S&R's ratings, and I found this in Ted Cox's column in the Daily Harold, dated Nov. 3:

"And from 10 a.m. to noon, the Score’s Mike Mulligan and Brian Hanley stomped ’MVP’s other local show, with Steve Rosenbloom and Sean Salisbury — which Rosen derided as “the guy on the phone from Dallas and the poker columnist” — with a 4.2 share to a 1.8."

Ouch.

I can tell you S&C had about 3 times that in their final month in that slot...

I'm sure they did. They were better. Much better. I actually like Silvy and Carmen. I loved their run and shoot. They got great chemistry (maybe of the acid and bases variaty) with the afternoon boys.

Who are the advertisers and what are they telling Justin Craig?

I don't even listen to sports talk radio anymore. The trend began with Sean and Rosey this summer. My not listening to sports radio anymore isn't all of S+R, but it definitely set the trend.

I hope they put them back in the 9-12 slot. We get no decent Bulls coverage during the day. S and R are morons, and as much as I love MJH, their Bulls talk sounds very forced and not very passionate. At least S and C gave that too us. I assume they still do from 7-10, but I don't really turn on the radio once I get home...

Yea, even "Woodridge Ryan" doesn't listen to S&C nearly as much as he used to because of that time slot.

Apparently we're putting our call-in names in parentheses now? Well, "Paul in Homer Glen" finds every opportunity he can to be in the car with the radio on S&C, which is not as often as I'd like.

What's it take to get Norm Van Lier back on the radio in this town? He certainly has his flaws but I can't think of anybody more passionate about basketball.

If Stormin' can get his ADHD under control for a ten minute segment, I love him. But when he's bouncing all over the place, acting like a poor man's Bill Walton, it's button-punching time.

Good point, he is psycho - kind of like a black Jimmy Piersall. I think Norm's losing it in his old age. Back when MVP had the Bulls how many times did he drop "God damn" on the radio in a rage after a Bulls loss?

That being said, I still love the old fart when he can keep himself under control. Imagine Norm & Hoody talking Bullz buckets.

My commute took me past 9 this morning, and to my shock at 9:06 I found myself listening to Eric & Kathy doing theit Vanity NFL picks.

At 9:07 I threw up in my mouth just a little.

WTF is wrong with sports radio in this town???

I think you guys are missing the big picture.. S & S are bigger than sports radio. They're a phenomenon.. they're redefining sports radio.. Salisbury Steak is the great former NFL quarterback.. Rosey knows poker.. they're on the radio.. they have been blessed with the ability to form the occasional sentence and make loud obnoxious grunts at each other from time to time. What's not to like? I can't think anything else I'd rather listen to than nine to noon... other than the sound of the blood rushing over my ear drum after I poke a pencil in my ear because I accidentally left the radio on while these tools were "working".

LOL, I used this exact term to describe him in the other thread just a couple of minutes ago, only to find that you said it quite a while ago.
