It's starting to look like the Tribune was too big to be sold. Look at the way the paper and the baseball team have taken runaway trains to Shitsville since Zell and Ricketts emptied their banks and couch cushions to buy these things. Oh how I yearn for simpler times. Times when the midwestern paper of record wasn't a glorified tabloid that I wouldn't wipe my ass with in fear that the ink would cross my blood-brain barrier and cause me to write exclusively in monosyllabic words. Or those simpler times when the old ballpark didn't have a 20-foot macaroni noodle in front. These times were like 2006.

Fire Lou & let Trammel Manage the team for the rest of the year. I wonder if the Ricketts can actually afford to own the Cubs right now since the economy tanked right around the time they bought the team, & as far as I can tell from everything that I've read about the Ricketts financially, they were stretched to buy the Cubbies.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Ricketts end up being short term owners.

Trammel? The guy who Managed the 2003 Tigers? Look up what THAT team did under him. Besides, all Cub interim Managers(like Bruce Kimm and Jim Essian)are pitiful--just like this team which should have all been dumped in Puget Sound rather than flying back from Seattle.
The rest of this season is nothing more than GLORIFIED EXHIBITION GAMES, PERIOD!

Les, I love ya but that might be the meatballiest post of the year! Most interim Managers are lousy but it doesn't really matter, they're just temporarily managing the team until the next coaching staff is in place. If the rest of the season is meaningless for the Cubs then it doesn't matter who the Manager is, so why keep Lou? I get the feeling the playing are laughing & making fun of Lou too, just like the fans & broadcasters are. His time is over here.

This franchise needs better talent evaluation. It's needed it since Dallas Green left. Hiring Tim Wilken was a start, but there's a lot more work to be done in the front office.

My biggest problem with Lou isn't this year, it was last year when he backed down from Bradley. He was right and should've stood up for himself. Other than that, what can Lou do differently to help generate offense when he has a lineup of 5-8 hitters? They can't play the field. And he did his best with that rag tag bullpen that Hendry gave him.

Has there ever been a GM who has spent as much bad money in a few years as Hendry? Zambrano, Fukedome, Soriano, Ramirez, Bradley...good lord what a lousy resume.

Zambrano - Maybe Bad money, but if he goes to Free agency, he gets that money
Fukedome- That one is all on Hendry!
Soriano- McDonough made it a 7 year deal! 75% blame to Hendry, but not a disaster
Ramirez- The money is not the issue, it's the structure of the deal. Ramirez always could opt out and Hendry didnt learn the first time. A Ram ahs the same thing this year, $14 Million to stay IF HE WANTS, got a feeling he is staying.
Bradley- 110% Hendry , "Steak Dinner Boom"

Oh and the #30 team on that list has a payroll that is a fourth the size of the Cubs, but somehow has dominated the Northsiders.
