Young guy from an organization with success looking to make a step up?

Established GM of a small market team who wants a chance to GM in a big market?

Smartass answer:
Keith Moreland, to satiate the meatballs

Real answer:

My guess is it will be an assistant GM or someone of that ilk that is heavy duty into the sabremetrics of the game. I think if they are wise, they go the 2 headed monster route and bring in the sabremetrics guy and pair him up with someone who is an actual personnel guy (think scouting dept).

He does somewhat fall into the 'Young guy from an organization with success looking to make a step up' category. Not young, but he is looking to make a step up.

Don't be surprised if Kim Ng gets a serious look as the next Cubs General Manager. She is curently the assistant general manager for the Los Angeles Dodgers and is very respected in baseball circles. Ng also has Chicago ties. She started out in the White Sox organization after gradutaing from the University of Chicago. Do you know who else graduated from the University of Chicago? Tom Ricketts, Peter Ricketts and Laura Ricketts (wouldn't she love to hire the first female GM??). This is a very real possibilty.
