I believe this is what Bucher was referring to about Bulls' fans being happy. Can they get LeBron?

5 years at 80 million, I think.

Bosh may be a slightly better player, but Boozer was the second best post player available in my opinion.

Interesting as, at those numbers, it preserves a max slot.

It's a piece, but only matters if we get Lebron. No Lebron = 2nd round exit at best

PDcavsinsider Twitter confirms: Reports that Bulls have signed Boozer to 5yr, $80 million deal no doubt improves their chances w/LeBron. Even if they had to overpay.

+1. Rose and Boozer will complement each other very well, especially off the pick and roll.

Is Bosh going to play center in Miami? I'm sure he'll do it, but I thought he'd rather play PF.

Noah: C
Rose: PG
Boozer: PF
Deng: SF
Who the hell is at Shooting Guard at this moment?

If and when the Bulls do not sign LeBron they will be stuck with an overpaid 29 year old powerforward who will probably once again miss significant time with an injury. They should have targeted David Lee and saved some money. Now lets get JJ Reddick for the soft players from Duke trifecta.

Keep in mind they still have a complete max contract left to offer.

Rose, Noah, Boozer, Deng + 2 more good free agents and the Bulls are competitive with any team in the East besides the unlikely combination of Lebron/Bosh/Wade.

I like Boozer over Amare, probably the best the Bulls could have done if they couldn't land Bosh. Good move for them and still have a max contract left.

I also like the fact Boozer is coming from the Jazz. He has played in lot of playoff games and has been tutored under Sloan in the art of the pick and roll. That is really going to help Rose IMO. If he can just stay healthy, the Bull is going to be a dangerous team with or without LBJ.

Whatever happens - the Bulls are better. They may still be in basketball hell if they can't land LeBron - but they're better.

Good move considering the options available with Bosh off the market, need a shooter now.

something i was thinking about...listening to B&B on the way home and Bernsie pondering if they can add a shooter between now and tomorrow's Lebron show to pretty much say- "we have everything if you want to win come here" and still maintain the max slot. Goff was suggesting some kind of handshake deal for the MLE.....isn't that how the Timberwolves got into trouble with Joe Smith?

also, the other thing on my mind is that Boozer took slightly less than the max, no? wouldn't *some* other team like the Nets, Clippers, etc. - spurned by all the other free agents- offer him a max deal? So why would Boozer take less than the max to play for the Bulls unless there was some chance remaining to get James

i'm not saying agreements are in place or anything
just peculiar, that's all.....
in an environment where the major free agents are gone and there is still a boatload of cash out there it's odd that the biggest name left would take less than a max deal

$70 million for Dung $80 mil for Loozer can anyone tell me that's not the worst spent 150 million spent? I know Farve Fan and and Bagels love the move. Bye Paxson  PS what keeps Rose around when his contract is up????

What will keep Rose around is the same thing keeping Wade, LeBron, Pierce, Dirk, etc. around. Money. The majority of free agents are staying with their teams because of -wait for it- MONEY

As for the 150...you need to look at the NBA landscape. If you're expecting them to salaries equal to what the players are worth, you're obviously an NBA moron. Which we know already but this just makes it more clear. Maybe Boozer is worth 10, 11 million but he's getting 15. That's the going rate right now. I guess you would have preferred for them to not sign Boozer and just sit on a pile of cash. Maybe you'd prefer Jerry Reinsdorf to have one extra lobster with his dinner tonight. You're a grade A moron.

Not sure about the Joe Smith thing, but like B&B said, if you could have some kind of conditional deal and say "if LeBron comes here we can offer you the MLE, or if he doesn't we can offer you this (insert amount here)". Not sure what the rules are but it just seems like what might be a regular negotiation as long as the shooter in question is OK with it.

Could be Boozer took less because the Bulls have more talent than some of those other teams and maybe he wants to win? I know thats rare in the NBA today but It could be. Maybe he sees what the "big 3" were supposed to see: Drose and Noah.

I said the same thing. They could have save about $25M too.

I do too considering he got $100M but I still maintain Lee was the best option. Not sexy but the best option.

They spent about $30M too much. In the case of Deng they bid against themselves.
