Not all of us.

Btw I just want to know what "Thug" means to everyone? To me it's a coded and loaded word. These dudes aint real thugs so let's take a step back from that word. When you make millions of dollars playing professional sports you are the furthest thing from a "Thug".

And good riddance Steve Sarley.

Agreed. But I agree with his point that it's often a coded word by the ES's and Scorehead's of the world.

Right and ure telling me these dudes were running the streets like Tony Montana in their youth while dropping 50 points in a high school basketball game, or scoring 5 touchdowns on prom night? These dudes are out shooting cops at night instead of thinking about a full ride to a D1 school? C'mon man. None of these grown men are, or ever have been "Thugs". They dont even approach gangster status. Maybe they have a relative, or a friend who qualifies, but if you make millions of dollars why would you waste ure time with some street shit?

Granted their are examples like Bam Morris, Pacman, or even Vick, but I promise those dudes are the outliers. ESPN likes to focus on those stories for very questionable motives. When ESPN makes those situations seem like the norm, that's when all this passive racist meatballery snowballs (Dont believe me? Go look at an ESPN article comments section sometime). This is where we're at with sports. Drowning in Meatballs.

Im sure most pro athletes, like any one of us on this board, would prefer the top notch pussy they receive over going out and committing a drive by.

I agree they aren't gang bangin on the corner if that's what you're trying to say. Even thou guys like Vick and pac-man aren't the norm you still are going to have guys that have that thug mentality no matter how much $ you give them.

I get what you are saying overall thou

Finally, we agree on something Free Ajent. Sort of.

Still waiting on that explanation of a thug from the meatball side of the board...

I agree about the mentality. You can take a thug out the Hood but you can't take the thug out of the individual. Even if they have learned to suppress it something can bring it back out.

Yeah but even the most susceptible mindsets are coddled and sheltered from a lot of shit once a coach/scout/parent realizes the potential of the athlete. Granted, mom cant be everywhere all the time, so experimentation will happen.

There arent a lot of Willie Williams' even sniffing D1 schools nowadays.

So if that Bowman guy for the Vikings rapes a stripper during the "Love Boat" fiasco does that make him a thug? Just curious what the prerequisites are?

Alfonso Soriano

Many feel that the Soriano, Bradley and Fukudome contracts are amongst the worst signings in the last decade, if not of all time.
So why aren't you "done" with The Cub?

You are right about those contracts and yes, I am close to being done with them too.

First off, thanks for assuming that you can speak for the NBAin wishing me good riddance.
Second, "coded and loaded?"
If you are saying what I think you are saying, you mean that "thug" means "black?"
That is the inference I am getting from where this thread has turned.
I never considered the connection, to be totally honest.
A few years ago, I spent an hour talking to Norm Van Lier and he told me that
the NBA was a "thug league."
He explained his opinion in detail and I understood what he told me.
I guess that makes Stormin' Norman a racist who uses coded and loaded terms.
Damn! I never would have thought that of Norm!

Nowadays when "thug" is used it is USUALLY describing a black guy. Let's get back to talking hoops. I could post in the politics section if I wanted to engage in a racial debate.

About the whole reneging (racist) thing...

Boozer maintains he never agreed to sign. And the man who worked the deal, Jim Paxson, is currently a member of the Bulls organization. He fully supported the signing of Boozer. So if he can get over it, you can too.

Sarley, I don't really give a flying fuck if you're offended.

What do you think you were doing when you said this:
Quote:
It's a thug league with more a-holes in uniform than any other sport.

Was that not offensive?

How 'bout this:
Quote:
Boozer, is a jerk

Offensive?

And what about this:
Quote:
It's a ghetto league with more blacks in uniform than any other sport.

Dude, you offended an entire league. Hell, an entire race.

And your post, it just kills me.

Quote:
It's tough being a Chicago fan

Suck it up Sarley. You're embarrassing!!

The Hawks just won a title like yesterday. The Sox won a title a few years ago, and will do so again this year. The Bulls have 6 titles that even I remember. The Bears have a title and perhaps the greatest team of all time and even I remember that.
If I remember all of that, your old ass certainly does.
But if you were from Cleveland, you wouldn't remember a single title in your entire lifetime. And you wouldn't even have a damn hockey team! And now you just lost the KING. And not Elvis dammit - Bron Bron!!!
Try being a Cleveland fan Steven.
Shit.

I stand by my thug comment and have explained it elsewhere in this thread.

Boozer was a jerk when he left Cleveland. That said, I really like what he is saying now that he has signed with the Bulls. He seems like a quality guy and I hope he has a lot of success with the Bulls.

"It's a ghetto league with more blacks in uniform than any other sport." How dare you manipulate the quote function to attribute that bullshit to me? That is a despicable thing that you did. I would expect an apology.

I loved the Hawks winning the Cup but hate to see guys like Buff and Versteeg have to go. It makes the Championship a little bittersweet to me. Yes, the Sox won and I am hoping that they can do it again. The 85 Bears? That was 25 years ago! What does Ditka say about dwelling in the past?

I don't live in Cleveland. Will never live in Cleveland. Don't give a shit about Cleveland. So what the hell is your point? Try making a little sense.

Have a wonderful evening!

The league is as strong as it's been in a long time ratings wise. Thats what I meant by that. And no offense but you are ignorant if you really think the NBA has more criminals than other leagues. It's not an insult to say you are ignorant, all it means is uninformed. And you have showed yourself to be just that in this thread.

Dammit, I can't start liking Sarley!

Don't worry, I doubt you'll have to.

By the way Sarley, the quote was right there for you, along with an explanation.
You say it's tough being a Chicago Sports fan. Now maybe you meant to say it's tough being a Cubs fan, but you didn't. So I went on to say.....a n d I ' m t y p i n g r e a l l y s l o w l y 'cause you seem a bit, well, stupid.....but I went on to point out that if it's tough being a Chicago fan, how do you think the people in Cleveland feel. Seattle maybe? Utah? Washington? How'd ya like to be an Iowa?

My God Sarley, the Hawks just won it like 5 minutes ago. You have got to get a grip.

Nitey, nite, Sweetie!

I wish all of you guys with mults would have the balls to post under your real name. When many of you have something that you think may be controversial, you use the mult to post it.
Don't be a pussy. Have the guts to post under your normal screen name.
