This is the same Lebron James that scored 25 straight points to win a very important playoff game. I don't care if all his teammates had fallen in to coma's I still expect him to go out and do his best to dominate. That's what separates the great talents from the great players.

Lebron talked like he wanted to be the man for his entire career but the end of his career in Cleveland ended with him quitting. Legacy is forever tarnished on that one, even if he wins a title on Wade's team.

And it's not like the free agency happenings are why it's being said. People said it right afterwards before we knew about "The Decision".

I was saying it before then. It's not just him but for some reason a lot of the younger stars in most leagues have a different mentality than many of the stars we saw growing up. I'm not sure if it's the pay or the fact that many of them have had things given to them most of their lives and never really had to earn anything but it's hard for me to root for them.

Uh... Why is everyone only bringing up 5 minutes? THE ENTIRE GAME 5 he quit. I honestly dont even remember him playing in that game. Down the stretch of Game 6 was bad, but Game 5 was the worst "Big Game" I've seen a superstar play that I can remember. You couldnt have watched that game and come to any other conclusion.

At the end of the day it just doesnt matter to me that much. I know how good the dude is. I know he'll get a ring or two now. For someone that "quit" he still averaged silly numbers for any player at that level. These are all points Ive made earlier in the thread.

Comparing every great perimeter guy to Jordan is gonna make you a miserable, disenchanted meatball. I wouldnt recommend it.

1.) Look at his stats from Game 5. They're pedestrian.

2.) I'm not comparing him to MJ. He's never even come close to making sucha comparison valid. I'm comparing him to his peers. I'd much rather take Wade or Kobe if I had to win 1 game. Look at how Wade played when his team was down 3-0 and how Bron played when his team was tied 2-2. One refuses to quit, the other looks for any reason to.

MJ-Killer

Kobe-Killer

Melo-Cut from the same cloth but not quite fatal yet.

Wade-Ok, but wouldnt have a ring if it werent for some super sketchy officiating in the finals 5 years ago.

LBJ-Not so much, but what he doesnt have in terms of killer instinct he makes up for it with a perfect balance of basketball skill never seen blended the way it is with him. Never. He's like the Big O, David Thompson, Magic, and MJ all rolled into one baller. So he may not like playing on the same team as some guy who's banging his mom. And that hurts his effort. Oh well.

It's not like he's sodomizing bitches, or gambling himself into enough debt a family member goes missing. Ya know? He lost the will to beat the Celtics by himself after finding out about his mom and teammate yet still managed to put up 27, 9, and 7. That is all have a good day everyone.

If he really had such a huge problem with this, his entire game would have been shit. Also, why wouldn't he just talk with Mike Brown before the game and say, "I don't even want to look at this guy the rest of the season, send him home". If LBJ wanted him gone, he would be gone in a second. Your Lebron love is just over the top. He quit. It was obvious that he quit. Saying it's okay that your team leader quit just aint right.

Ok, so when Kobe did basically the same thing against the Suns in the 2nd half of their elimination game 4 years ago before they were given Pau, its cool?

Or Pippen.

Or Joe Johnson being booed by his own fans.

Or the entire Lakers team when they were about to get bounced by Detroit in 03?

If you've watched enough basketball the last 12 years then you've seen more than your share of half assing to be desensitized to it. You dont know how many shitty TNT games I sat thru waiting for this newer type of ultra skilled player like LBJ, Melo, or Durant to come along. I can live with some bad for how talented these guys are.

I understand the situation, and I forgive Lebron for not living up to the "Chicago Tough Guy Grindy" Standards made present at today's current secondary circle jerk.

I'll let the others mock you for your over the top James love, but I wish you'd stop mentioning Johnson. He didn't quit. He sucked. There's a big difference. You can try and give effort and just not get good results. You shouldn't be putting him in the same category.

I think generally this is true. We do have a couple of these types here in Chicago. At least one will have some staying power. Image

The Rose could be a third if he can prove himself further in the playoffs.

Like others have said, it's absurd that you think West was the reason LeBron quit. How bout the year before that when he gave up against the Magic?

And the comment about Wade is semi-ridiculous. While the officiating was poor, Dallas had a much more talented team and choked. And Wade didnt have anything close to resembling an All Star caliber player on that team with him. Wade in 2006 and Duncan in 2003 are the closest things we've seen in a long time to a one-man champion team. Wade absolutely killed it that whole series, and showed he has what it takes to LEAD a team to a title. Melo hasn't come close to showing that and LeBron has had moments that make you think he can, but they are and should be overshadowed by him quitting.

And I['ve mentioned Kobe quitting in the past, just ask Nas/HOVA who defended him. I dont think he would do that anymore. But it wasn't like a "I cant take this, I want this season to be over" quitting like LeBron. It was like "Alright fuck Phil and my teammates for calling me a ballhog, I'm gonna be immature and show them what happens when I dont shoot" type quitting. Both inexcusable, but nobody's ever questioned Kobe's desire to win. You cant say the same about LeBron.

I agree with Bagels about JJ too. He didn't quit, he's just not a superstar. The fact that you keep trying to compare the two speaks volumes about LeBron.

I agree most of your post but Shaq was still Shaq in 2006. While not the same Shaq of 2000 he was still an all star and Wade had other talented and veteran players on his team. Being coached by Riley and being coached by Avery Johnson makes a big difference too. There is a reason why guys like Phil are automatic when they get a certain type of lead in a series.

FavreFan... Um... Idk how to say this, but your NBA cred takes a hit when you dont acknowledge still late prime Shaq on that 2006 team. Damn. I thought u knew ure shit a little.

And Duncan doesnt win without Parker or Ginobili.

Damn dude. Did you just start watching the league a few years ago or what?

In my book, quitting is quitting. Ive seen the 2 best players in the league both leave effort on the court at dif points in their careers. It doesnt bother me.

But your NBA cred doesn't take a hit for brushing aside obvious quitting by a player you support?

I would argue Scottie didn't quit either. He rightfully believed he earned the right to take the last shot and Phil wanted him to inbound the ball. Not be a option but inbound the ball. If Kukoc misses that shot Phil would have gotten hammered more for his decision.

Ive said many times YES he quit. My God man. Read.

ANd Whatever you want to call Joe Johnson mailing in the last two games of the conf semis when he realized the hawks couldnt beat the Magic is still just as bad or worse than LBJ not hustling for 5 minutes in game 6. Come the fuck on.

So Scottie was being conscious and respectful of Phil potentially getting blasted by the media if Kukoc misses that shot? Oh I see. That makes perfect sense instead of a whiny crunch time temper tantrum.

Is everyone high here except me?
