Signs Darko to a 4/20 deal
Now they are pursuing Luke Ridnour?

I think it's time for Bill Simmons to start campaigning for the T'Wolves GM spot again.

Penny Hardaway, the man who inspired original Nike puppet in the late 90s "Lil Penny," announced he is interested in competing for a role with the Miami Heat Thursday on an internet radio show called "The Bottom Line Sports Show." "Mentally I was retired and physically I was retired. I was playing recreational ball," Hardaway said. "But when the decision happened with Chris Bosh and LeBron, I felt like I could really be good in that system."

Magloire back to provide depth in middle for Heat

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miam ... 6471.story

The Cat is out of the bag. Jamaal Magloire is back with the Miami Heat.

A bruiser on the court and a stabilizing presence in the locker room, Magloire signed off Monday on his third one-year, minimum-scale contract with the Heat.

Known as the "Big Cat," the former University of Kentucky Wildcat becomes the Heat's fourth center under contract, joining fellow Heat free agent Joel Anthony, Cleveland Cavaliers free agent Zydrunas Ilgauskas and second-round pick Dexter Pittman, the burly center from the University of Texas.

All, other than Anthony, are on minimum-scale contracts, with Magloire to earn $1.4 million this season.

"Re-signing Jamaal is a testament to his work ethic and his desire to win," Heat President Pat Riley said. "Over the past two seasons in Miami, he has been an asset to this team, in terms of being a role model for our younger players, with his professionalism and his strong locker room presence."

Magloire, 32, has appeared in 628 career games over his 10 seasons, averaging 7.7 points and 6.7 rebounds in 22.4 minutes, shooting .480 from the field and .645 from the foul line.

This past season, playing behind Jermaine O'Neal, who has departed for the Boston Celtics as a free agent, and Anthony, Magloire averaged 2.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in 23 appearances. His 16.2 rebound average per 48 minutes was best on the roster.

The Canada native originally was drafted 19th overall in the first round of the 2000 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets.
