Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley comment on their disappointment for the Miami Heat's "Big 3". Do you guys agree with him?

That is an awesome quote from Mike. He knows what he owns and he is not lifting a finger for these miami sellouts.

I doubt anyone thought MJ would do something like that.

Barkley hit the nail on the head

Would Jordan have ever beat those guys without Scottie?

If Jordan played now, in a league where its usually whoever has the most top 15 type players wins the title, I think he would consider it.

No.

There's no way to tell. Jordan was never in the situation. He got a top 50 all time NBA player in his 4th season.

I think its easy to say he wouldnt do it in hindsight.

There werent a lot of stars moving back then. Certainly not like now.

If Jordan played with scrubs for 7 years and Chicago mismanaged to the point where he couldnt see winning a title, I think he would consider moving.

I agree with you about Barkley, but I see no reason to even consider that Jordan would have. If players were moving around then like now, I think Jordan would have found guys to come play with him, but I don't think he would have been leaving to go be 2nd fiddle in another superstars town. Barkley was dead on, when you are at that level you don't leave, they come to you.

Well that I agree with but thats pretty close to the same thing IMO. Getting guys to come, going to play with guys. Either way youre loading up a team.

Oh and I edited the Barkely part. The Sixers traded him.

But he did go play with two future HOF's in Houston. But that was kind of an end of career signing to chase a ring. He probably would have been there another season or two if he hadn't blown out his knee.

For anyone who remembers Barkley's career, his opinion is silly and meaningless. He was a guy who made it clear that winning was the last thing he cared about, always mumbling some shit about being "handsome, rich, and black." I really don't need that loser weighing in on anyone's leadership abilities.

So him going to the Suns was just about the weather being nicer in Phoenix? Or what about wanting to go to Houston? Dumb comment that has no basis.

If you want to be considered the greatest you should stay with your team. Kobe probably could have joined another team when the Lakers were bad after Shaq left, but he chose to force the team to get better players. This whole James saga has only continued to prove that Kobe is a better player and much less of a head case than LeBron. Kobe has his own ego issues, but he doesn't proclaim himself "The King". He just wins and he didn't have to join another team to do it.

i think the biggest problem is lebron CLEARLY had enough talent to land some rings in cleaveland. he didnt do it though. he failed. and then gave up. in my opinion, the guy is a TOOL.

LeBron doesn't handle pressure well. I wonder how well he'll handle all the regular season pressure going forward that he never had to handle in the past. Probably badly. Hopefully. Because I have a new villian now goddamn it.

For some reason a lot of people are acting like LeBron left some shitty team. They had the best record in the East. Then they say it was because Cleveland mismanaged the team. Well LeBron held them hostage because he wouldn't commit long-term so they made a bunch of questionable short-term moves to please him. Mike Brown was a terrible coach but it's the coach LeBron wanted.

As for Jordan, it's basically Jordan being the raging douchebag he's always been. Since he can't compete with LeBron on the court any more he has to settling for ripping him in the media. Not that there isn't a resaon to hate on him though, but Jordan isn't the type of guy who'll pass up a shot, hey hey.

You don't know what you're talking about. Do some research and then get back to me. I don't make dumb comments mainly because I don't talk about shit I don't know about. You'd do well to do the same.

+1 Having Wade makes it a little easier.

Did any of that stop him from trying to win? He is only the 3rd or 4th best PF of all time.

He may be, but you can't say titles are so important when you're criticizing one guy and then say they don't matter when appraising Barkley, can you? Anyway, just from what I've read of your posts I'd guess you're probably one of the more knowledgeable NBA fans posting here. My guess is that most guys who post here don't know much about Bob Pettit, Elgin Baylor, Elvin Hayes, or Bob McAdoo. Regardless, I'll stand by my view that Barkley was far more interested in gambling, drinking, and boning white broads than he ever was in winning.

If you're saying he wasn't dedicated to the game like a guy like Jordan was (even though he gambled and partied too) then I am in complete agreement. IIRC he admitted to never lifting weights and looking at his body later in his career it was evident that he didn't put the time in that was needed. I think he wanted to win but he didn't always want to put the work in at practice or in the off season. He felt that he could step on the court and dominate. Early in his career he was right but father time changed some things and he was never able to adapt. Do you recall him trying to come back with MJ to play in Washington? Couldn't get himself in enough shape to do it.

I agree. Jordan may have done all the things Barkley did, but he was able to get away with it. I'd also suggest that those things were secondary in Jordan's world to winning basketball games for a long time. I'm not sure that was the case with Barkley.

I got it. Barkley was fat. I resarched that now what? I didnt find anywhere where he said he didnt give a shit about winning and was more interested in fucking white bitches. If I recall the 90's NBA and Im pretty sure I know more about that period of time than you do, Barkley was one of the two best PF in the league(Karl Malone 1st). So yeah at the end of his career he was fat and sloppy, but to say his opinion is silly makes you look like quite the fool. I think after being one of the 50 best players of all time and one of the top 10 players of the decade, he knows a bit more about the NBA than your dumbass does. But what the fuck do I know? Back to researching more NBA 1990-1999 for me.

You don't know shit, jerkoff. If you did, you'd know exactly how flawed the "50 best players of all time" was. Maybe someone like HOVA who really knows the game can explain it to your dumb ass. And if you think Barkley has any more authority on what it takes to win an NBA championship than LeBron James, you're the fool. You suggested Barkley sought a title in Phoenix as if he went there as a free agent, when in fact he was traded there. I guess your grasp on the 90s isn't quite as tight as you thought.

So he isnt a top 50 player of all time? Where would you rate him compared to the players of the 90's. I would put him behind Hakeem, Drexler, Malone, Stockton, Jordan, and maybe one or two more off the top of my head that Im forgetting. Explain your point instead of just talking shit. Im saying, how is it that Barley is not credible when he might know a thing or two about being a great player. Did I miss that ring that James got last year? I never said he went to the Suns as a free agent. I know he was involved in a trade that sent Jeff Hornacek to back to the 76ers. Maybe you can ask other people on the board what they think or maybe wikipedia it, I really don't give a fuck . As for Hova, I get that he knows more about the NBA than I do, but Im claiming 90's knowledge with you and not him. Any fucking day now you want to talk 90s hoops with me, or do you want to ask HOVA his feelings on it first.

First, you can go back and read through the thread. You're the guy that started talking shit. I'm respectful to anyone who is respectful to me. I stated my opinion regarding Barkley not being a "winner" and you said it was a "dumb comment, no basis". Well, Barkley has won exactly as many NBA championships as LeBron James. So I obviosuly wouldn't call him some expert on what it takes to win an NBA championship.

And yeah, he's a top 50 player, but I certainly wouldn't cite that list as any definitive statement. For example, Bernard King was better than more than one guy on the list. And that's just one guy who they missed. And if you're a guy who rates individuals based on their championships, I don't see how you could put Barkley in the top 50.

Anyway, I'm not really a fan of the NBA and I'm not going to claim any particular expertise, but I do pay attention to what's going on and I'm guessing I know my pro hoops at least as well as most guys who post here and that includes HOVA or anyone else.
