In his first 211 AB's, he's 3rd in MLB SS's in OPS.

He's 20.

And I bet most Cubs fans are more excited about Tyler Colvin.

I'm excited just to see any Cub prospect do well. The team is starting to see more & more of them. Cashner,Soto and Marmol, too.

Strictly anecdotal from hearing people talk about the team. I get the vibe that people think Colvin eventually will be a .900+OPS guy with 30+ home runs.

Starlin Castro is going to be the absolute nuts. Honestly think his ceiling is a top 3 shortstop in the majors.

I agree. I wrote that much before the season started.

Not sure what Colvin is gonna be. Weird story. Reached for him in the draft. Very up and down thru the system. Then gains 25 lbs and is a major league homerun threat.

He still could be real good.

But youre right about Castro being the truth.

Keep in mind if (when) this Hak Ju Lee kid gets here, in all likelihood Castro will be a 2B.

Castro's upside has little to do with his defense. But you are correct.

As a 2b he'll be even more valuable.

If he lives up to half of his hype, we'll have the best SS/2B combo in baseball.

I'm more excited about Castro because I think their ceilings are about the same SS are harder to find.

By the way this thread is why when the Cubs purge the office and managers box I want Tim Wilken the one kept.

Also wanting is the best of what could have been Higher statistics, honestly speaking, which notwithstanding are in fluxuations that should be indicitive of the relentless randomness of words used.

I thought Hak Ju Lee was going to be the one to move to 2nd...is his arm / range that much better than Castro's?

I know Castro has been somewhat erratic so far, but he seems to have excellent range and an even better arm.

Quote:
Lee is the type of defender that already looks like a Gold Glove at shortstop. And it would be only this type of player that could displace a player like Castro at shortstop. He's that special on the defensive side of things. He has a plus arm, which allows him to complete some spectacular plays. What's most impressive is how easy he makes some of these difficult plays look.

He circles the ball in the hole to his right very well, and makes throws consistently off his back foot as if they were routine. His hands are outstanding, and the range to both sides would be among the best in the majors right now. It's high praise and risky to make such a comparison, but Lee plays the position like a stronger armed Omar Vizquel.

Brett Jackson is looking solid after his recent promotion to Double A.
