The only trade I care about is the one that sends Jim Hendry's nose-pickin ass out of town.

These next 11 games will really decide the season I think in terms of how aggressively they try to move Lee/Lilly/Silva etc. 9 of our next 11 games are in the division with 6 against Houston to hopefully get fat and then 3 with the Cards.

If the team wins 8 or 9 of these I really don't see us selling which would be an epic mistake.

What I was referring to was that press conference where he announced the Zambrano suspension. Did he realize he was on TV?? The guy was digging in his nose for like 30 seconds!! Somebody get this guy a clue!!

That I understand the guy is a complete slob....but a bully? I have no idea how Hendry is a bully if anything he seems like the type of guy who gets bullied.

The next couple games are gonna be very telling as to whether the Cubs will trade guys like Lilly right away, or not. If they can continue on this streak, Hendry might hold this group together (foolishly). But if they lose these last 2 against the Phillies (which I think they will), then Lilly and others may go before he gets another start. It was good to see Lilly get a decent start against the Phillies even if he did not get the win. A quality start vs a quality opponant, only increases his trade value.

his whole mentality and his approach to things is like a bully

he suspends 2 of his players in less than a year...and they make big money too...he also rips teams off on trades, especially picking on the Pirates and Orioles...why those teaims feed him I dont know...he is not about fair trades, he is about ripping people off...and he also backs Lou fiercely, who is very similar to Hendry in the sense that he wants to beat teams with bludgeoning offense and with veterans...Hendry is also very brutally honest to the media which I dont like...a direct contrast to the coyness of Ed Lynch and McPhail...he wants to be like the Yankees and Red Sox GM's which I hate because this team and city is not cut out for it...most GM's around baseball stay out of the limelight and keep their mouths shut...Politics sucks, but sometimes it is good cuz it can keep u in line a little bit...Hendry has too much freedom with his tongue and it's not good

in summary, it's from a psychological standpoint im speaking from

even though he is from Iowa, he has learned the bullyish Chicago ways...in the last 10 years, as the fans have changed (booing players more, etc.), so has Hendry...fuck him

i am totally in favor of a GM who routinely "rips teams off" on trades, and disciplines players regardless of salary. that isnt much a sell job to fire a GM.

Taking Silva shopping would be even worse. That fat bastard would eat you out of house and home.

Seriously though, I don't see anything good coming out of this season. We aren't going to get anything for anyone and Hendry has seen fit that we will be fucked for at least three years.

Frigging hell. You can't get a steaming pile of shit in a trade with Silva now. Three weeks ago he was a hot commodity, and everyone knew he needed to be traded sooner than later. Now what? Unreal.

This whole thing is like that Seinfeld episode after Susan died, when George learned he would have married into her fortune, but now that she's dead, everything went to charity and he got nothing. The attorney of the estate kept reading the checklist of what George *would* have had, and each item ended with "but now... nothing."

That's what it's gotta be like for that dope Hendry.

Three weeks ago, Silva was a lock for the All-Star game, and everyone around the league thought Rothschild fixed his arm slot and that he was much better suited for the NL.

Hendry: And now?

Nothing.

A year ago, Theriot was hitting .300 and was thought to have a decent glove.

Hendry: Now?

Nothing.

A year ago, Zambrano was perpetually on the verge of a Cy Young season, just waiting for that break-out moment.

Hendry: Now?

Nothing.

And now, like Future Mail, let's look ahead to 2011:

A year ago, A-Ram's bat was smoking hot, and contending teams around the league would have loved to have that bat down the stretch.

Hendry: And now?

Nothing.

Buy high, sell low. Great job.

If Ricketts was still alive, he would never stand for this.

I think this is a pretty good analogy....

The foundation. George is staring intently at a painting of Susan as Wyck walks in.]

Wyck: George.

[George doesn't respond.]

Wyck: George. (taps him on the shoulder)

George: (startled) Oh!

Wyck: I'm Wyck Thayer, chairman of the Susan Ross Foundation.

George: Wink.

Wyck: (correcting him) Wyck.

George: Wyck.

Wyck: Now, as you know, the Rosses had considerable monies.

George: Oh. I know they have some monies.

Wyck: They had more than some monies. Many, many monies. And they planned to give a sizable portion of their estate to you and Susan after the wedding.

George: So, if Susan and I had... I mean, if the envelopes hadn't, uh... then we--

Wyck: Yes.

George: And now?

Wyck: Not. It's all been endowed to the foundation, even this townhouse.

George: This townhouse?

Wyck: This would have been your wedding gift.

George: And now?

Wyck: Not.

George: Not.

Wyck: Also endowed. George... I know how much Susan meant to you. It can't be easy.

George: You know, it really can't.
