This one I don't get....If Hendry is gone....why the hell doesn't fire Hendry? Ricketts is a complete tooljob moron if he keeps Hendry....but if a decision to fire Hendry has been made to fire Hendry and he is just keeping him around for some reason then he is a wishy washy loser who is afraid of his employees. I hope to god that Berns is right and Hendry is going to be gone but I have a real real real bad feeling about this now.

You know what, I have had it with the fuckin' Cubs. 43 years of rooting for a failure is it.
Every fucking excuse in the world. 2003 was murder on all cubdom (cubdumb??).
Now this friggin circus of a press conference. Let's not forget how I predicted a baseball conspiracy (Selig,Reinsdorf) regarding the sale of the Cubs. They wanted this hand picked nerd running the team and held up the sale of the Cubs to a more dynamic ownership.

Shit, that's what they all say right before they give someone the chop.

The week before Thanksgiving he'll privately tell Jim it's time to hit the bricks and that he should step down to spend time with Danny Ainge's family, and the clubhouse and front office demolition will begin in earnest going right into the winter meetings.

I hope you are right....because beyond that I am going to have to root for Hendry to have another grabber.....or another grobber....

The only problem I have with that is that I dont' want Jim Hendry screening managers. Thanksgiving will be too late. He'll have to hire a GM then have the GM hire a manager. Way too late. You need to get moving on that no later than season end.

good riddance...i never liked the hiring of Lou since day 1...I hated Hendry's little-brother syndrome of trying to be like the Yankees and trying to hire big-time managers...i miss the days of underdog managers...Riggleman, Lefebvre, Treblehorn

watch now as Hendry makes another buffoon move of offering Girardi a ton of money to come here...you'd think he learned his lesson from overpaying Lou, Dusty, Soriano, etc...Hendry is like a fuckin dog in heat...he just cant keep his nose out of things, always antsy like a dumb little kid

The Cubs are not even my team, but listening to this press conference pissed me off. It is so transparent that Tom Ricketts would rather endure Chinese water torture than participate in press conferences. What the hell did you expect Tom? Right now, until you hire a "president"; it's your job to be the face of the club. I'm sure it's fun to tell friends that you own the Cubs, but it's way more than that. It's like an idiot that has just enough money to buy a Lamborghini, but all he can do is park it in the driveway because he can't afford the insurance or gas. Ricketts should have said period, end of sentence, "We will analyze the season and the organization, top to bottom, at the end of the season, and make the necessary moves, if needed." That way you don't get boxed into a corner to do or not to do something.

Are you fucking serious? Man, I can't understand ANY of your goofy posts.

RIGGLEMAN:
95 73 wins (shortened)
96 76 wins
97 68 wins
98 90 wins (extra game!)
99 67 wins

Did you enjoy a quick playoff exit in only 1 of 5 seasons under him?

LEFEBVRE
92 78 wins
93 84 wins

What makes you pine for mediocrity?

TREBELHORN:
94 (49-64)

Stunning record. Wow. yeah there's your leader.

FWIW I always thought Lefebvre was a decent manager who deserved another year after the 93 year to come back. But yeah pining for mediocrity is bizzare. You know what I miss? The Dick Jauron era....

I'm not saying he wasn't DECENT, but damn. Now i watch about 100 - 140 games a year every year and never, ever did I say, "You know what the Cubs need? Jim Lefebvre. They were so unstoppable in 1993."

After listening to these clowns at the press conference I will admit 100% that I am siding with jimmypasta and scorehead.....Fuck these losers. Ricketts is a Kansas City owner here in Chicago. He is a loser with a loser mentality who is keeping around Hendry just cause he doesn't want to buy out his contract. What a pile of dog shit.

Ricketts is in over his head. 85% of his money is now tied up in the Cubs. Cuban offered more money to buy the Cubs & he should have ended up with the team. The Cubs are starting to look & sound like the Bears with bad press conferences & a lame duck organization. This is exactly why I said that Ricketts should have fired Jim, Lou & Larry right after he bought the club. He should still do that now & hire John Schuerholz to run the team. Cubs fans deserve better than this. We deserve better than a small time fan boy who doesn't have a clue what to do with his new toy.

There's no chance in hell that "Commissioner" Allan H. Selig and his fellow MLB owners would've approved Mark Cuban owning the Cubs. Cuban's not giving up though. He's said to be very interested in the Texas Rangers, either making a bid himself or by joining a group led by current Rangers' Team President Nolan Ryan.

And Piniella explained that the ``important'' reason for announcing the impending retirement 2 1/2 months before it takes effect was the time and flexibility it gives the club to find and hire the best replacement.

But the announcement came off looking like a scramble earlier in the day - because it was.

The Cubs say they planned it for late afternoon but word broke early in the day after a longtime New York writer and Piniella friend, Bill Madden, talked to Piniella's agent and reported it.

That's when the scramble began to move up the timeline and issue a statement.

``It caused me a headache,'' said Piniella, who was disappointed he didn't get a chance to tell his coaches and players before news broke.

``I'm not too happy with my agent,'' he said.

That's just hilarious.
