Good god man, are you daft?

I'm not attacking you personally, but that is some seriously stupid stuff.

Ya theyre good in U2. Independantly theyre probably mediocre.

Anyway...
The second version of Please was sick. If they didnt rush Pop it could have been so much betted. Please, Discotheque, and mofo were all better on the later singles.

I like Pop but I thought I was biased Franks the only person ive ever heard list it as a favorite.

Oh and October is just not good. You can trick yourself into thinking its good, but its not.

Achtung Baby is unquestionably the grearest album in music history.

I think we can all agree on that.

Oh, whew. For a second there I thought you said it was the "greatest". Ok fine, I agree. It's the grearest.

Larry Mullen isn't too bad. I'm a better bassist than Adam Clayton.

He was originall recruited to the band because he was cool and had cool hair.

Hilarious.

Most of U2's detractors single out Bono, never thought I would see so much hatin' on "The Other Two".

And Frank, no you're not.

My hair post is right. Durect quote from Bono.

I think we can all agree that Bono should probably run for President.

I realize that.

Bono has also referred to Clayton as the soul of the band. And Mullen Jr is the boss.
Must be nice to be weakest links in the world's biggest band.

That would be Ron Wood and whoever is playing bass for the Stones.

Which statistics? Does The Edge have a higher Wins Over Replacement Guitarist than Keef? How does Adam Clayton get you closer to a Grammy?

Holy carp, I think I saw these guys at the old 4 am spot on Milwaukee @ North and Damen a few years back, 'the Note'. It was the joint with all the pool tables that I think got taken over by Debonair.

Sheeet, the performers/bands had to enter the stage through the audience, and then they'd redeem their drink tickets from the (stage) left side of the stage at the far end of the bar, DURING THE SHOW.

As street as it got in wickertucky. Image
It was still better than nazi Nick's Bier Garden, where if you even looked like you might spark up anything other than a Parliament Light, they'd boot you. And don't even think about taking a chick into the men's room stall with you, much less 3 of the 4 members of an all-girl horror-core band from Detroit.

And then there is/was Estelle's--such a crackhouse than Vince Vaughn often directs other actors working on his projects to hit it up to get their fix.

With the Note at least it was zero pretense and they pretty much let everything go. Prolly 2nd to the original Tuman's in terms of places that you complained about having to go to but missed like 8th grade once they were gone.

The Note is awesome. They used to have hip hop every saturday. Usually Open Mic. And groups would form in the crowd of guys freestylin. Is it gone now? I told OKC he should go there.

First of all, I smoke Parliaments so I cant feel your pain there.
But Nicks definitely serves its purpose as a late night high percentage hookup bar. For the southsiders its pretty much Brewbakers North.

I had good times there.

Estelle's is awesome. And its interesting you make the Vince Vaughn comparison because the tables there always reminded me of the Swingers scene where Favreu keeps telling the girl Vaughn never called her.

I love Estelle's

Tumans was awesome too. Not sure if the one I went to was the original.

You just named 4 of the 5 bars I frequented most in my time up there.
I lived in what later became the Elvis House. So the fifth bar was Cleo's which had awesome food specials during the week.

Nick's was the Artful Dodger before it moved to Wabansia. Then it became Dreamerz where I pretty much lived for a couple years. I played there a bunch of times and saw a lot of different bands there. I saw two great Butthole Surfers shows on consecutive nights. I saw Nirvana there and didn't pay much attention to them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYzqPnAE ... re=related

My friend Billy busted up a cinder block in front of the stage when Eleventh Dream Day was playing one night because he hated them so much. Finally he drew a chunk of it back and hit himself in the face breaking his own nose. When I drove him to Grant Hospital and the admitting nurse asked him how it happened, he was too embarrassed to tell her the truth so he snarled, "A human fist!" Years later when Billy entered the program he was supposed to apologize to everyone he hurt. So one night he saw Rick Rizzo from Eleventh Dream Day at Jewel on Ashland and decided he needed to apologize to him. When Rick saw him he said, "Hi Bill" and started walking away, probably trying to avoid a conversation with my crazy friend. Billy followed him up and down the aisles until he heard Rick's kid say, "Daddy, why is that man following us?" Billy told his sponsor he figured that counted as an apology.

The old Blue Note on Armitage was great. They ruined it when they moved to Milwaukee. And the old Tuman's might have been my favorite bar ever. Great jukebox. Terrible speakers.
