All these morons who claim he's to blame for all the team problems this year.

Then I guess he deserves all the credit for the 3 playoff teams he's been on and the 2 over 500 seasons he was a part of besides that then right?

And maybe is he the proof team chemisty and them all being best buddies and clubhouse guys overrated?

And remember when reading and hearing what the media says and writes he's not one of their boyfriends so they will portray him as bad as possible and make up stuff completely out of hat.

Name one person who blames Zambrano for all of the Cubs problems this year.

Go to any Cubs blogs or fansites or half of the sports radio coverage to find people that think Zambrano is to blame.

They win 6 of 10 from the break and it's all because Z has been gone of course.

He doesn't party with the media.

None of this would have happened with Millar on the roster

I've heard very very little blamed on Z except for his shit pitching this year. Please, don't forget: he pitched like Shit this year. So if you hear people blaming him for part of why the Cubs are where they are, they've got a point because when he pitched, he was bad.

I think cubbiegirl makes a great point. Additionally I do not think you can blame A-Ram for hitting below his weight all season....or Derrek Lee's awesome BA with RISP. Or Koske Fukudome being completely useless after May once again. Or Jim Hendry for not having a backup plan for when Angel Guzman had his inevitable arm injury. Good work everyone. Just like the people in charge of British Petroleum you all have earned your bonuses. Congratulations.

The only thing I blame them all for is not being good at baseball.

I want to stop one thing right now and forever after. I heard a goof today suggest the Sox trade for Zambrano and use him as a DH. I've also heard Cub fans suggest he could play first. Get it straight once and for all. Zambrano cannot hit the baseball. He is an okay hitter as a pitcher. But let's get serious. He's .240 with a 59 OPS+ for his career. He's not a hitter. Full stop.

he's "apologizing"...

Quote:
CHICAGO (AP)—Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano(notes) apologized for his dugout tirade last month.

Zambrano went off after allowing four runs in the first inning against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field on June 25 and had to be separated from teammate Derrek Lee(notes). He was suspended for three games and placed on the restricted list on June 29 with a mandate that he seek anger management counseling.

Zambrano said Monday on ESPN he apologizes “from the bottom of my heart” and that the confrontation “was my fault.”

“It’s hard to think right when you’re mad,” he said. “Thank God the Cubs sent me to this doctor. I’ve been seeing this doctor for anger management, and hopefully, good things will come out of the treatment.”

Cubs manager Lou Piniella said he believes Zambrano is “contrite” and “looking forward to coming back,” but reiterated he needs to address his teammates when he returns this weekend at Colorado. He had no comment “one way or another” on Zambrano apologizing first on national TV.

The Cubs’ former ace has been on an assignment with Triple-A Iowa and is expected to pitch out of the bullpen when he rejoins the major league club.

Zambrano, who has a history of outbursts, called his latest “a moment of frustration” in which he was “trying to do something for my team.”

Piniella said at the time that his pitcher was upset that Lee and third baseman Aramis Ramirez(notes) didn’t dive for doubles by Juan Pierre(notes) and Alex Rios(notes), a notion that Zambrano seemed to dispute. Either way, things really escalated as Zambrano stormed through the dugout.

“(Lee) told me to shut up and to keep playing,” Zambrano said. “That was when I got more excited.”

As for being mad at the first baseman for not diving, Zambrano said, “The last person that I would be mad at is D-Lee.”

Zambrano said he sent Lee a text message two days after the confrontation saying he wanted to talk and that they spoke later in the day, after the game.

“He called me,” Zambrano said. “We talked, we chatted. We cleared everything up.”

The blowup was the low point of a season in which Zambrano got banished to the bullpen after a slow start and continued to struggle when he returned to the rotation. He’s 3-6 with a 5.66 ERA and is in the middle of a five-year $91.5 million extension that includes a full no-trade clause.

AP Sports Writer Kristie Rieken in Houston contributed.

can we just commit the guy already.

Thats OUTSTANDING!!!

Nobody is blaming EVERYTHING on Zambrano. Derek Lee didn't FAIL to hit enough the first half of the season because of Big Z and nobody has suggested so. Ramirez-ditto. Nobody blamed Zambrano for failing once again to procure a legitimate leadoff hitter or a serviceable bullpen to begin the season with. But the big pile of steaming feces only won 9 games last season. This season, he has gone 3-6, with a 5.66 ERA. That sucks! His performance level was bad enough, but to then act like he did, only made things worse. He's not the only problem and NOBODY I have ever seen (in print) or heard (radio/TV) has suggested he is the olny problem. But make no mistake, he has been one of the problems.
