I guess I admit this latest story about his partying and various exploits has me wondering. It's obvious he has surrounded himself with some shady people that have no interest in him other than him being a money making machine. While many NBA players have partied quite a bit and been successful, it seems like basketball is almost an afterthought for him at this point.

I'm more curious than ever to see how these next few years play out for him, especially if the Heat fail to win a title. I'm not saying he's going to overdose or anything...but I guess what I'm saying is his behavior seems more reckless each day and he seems less concerned about basketball and he has no one guiding him that has his interests in mine.

He's reached the point in his celebrity where the image has been destroyed and we are getting an actual look at what his life is like.

While nothing as bad as what they have done has come out yet, it does remind you a lot of celebrities like Lindsey Lohan, Tiger Woods, and others who do show a detachment from reality and too much of an effect of those who immediately surround them.

Maverick Carter sounds like he's not a great guy to be running your operations given how he seems to do nothing more than give Lebron bad ideas and get his failing marketing company bailed out by Lebron's wealth.

I could maybe see that happening. If Miami fails to win this year, there will definitely be a ton of scrutiny from the press and fans. The Lebron James that singlehandedly got his team to the finals a few years back is nothing like the Lebron James around today. If he fails this year, I could maybe see him imploding a bit.

It looks like he's just partying it up and having a good offseason. its obvious that he feels the Heat are a lock to win a championship so I'm guessing he didn't feel the need to work out very hard this offseason if he hasn't been doing so.

What did he do? Are we surprised that he is partying in South Beach? I haven't read any stories so I may be missing something. From what I've seen he has never dedicated himself to basketball. It's just something that comes easy to him.

I didn't consider these activities a big deal. Kind of childish maybe, but not a big deal. I think the answers to this question will be more evident by say January, 2011. He can probably be a Miami rock star and a decent ball player for several months, but it will catch up with him. It will be interesting to see which he chooses, or which Maverick chooses for him.

I love the homage he's paying to Penny Marshall with the customized initials, well done.

If nothing else, Lebron just makes me hate the NBA even more. At least now I have a team to root against.

Agree. An athlete who got his paper and is actually working hard to justify it? What a refreshing concept.

How can you root against a team that has Jon Scheyer?

I think ultimately it's a hard line to maneuver. Jordan did it obviously- he partied, gambled, cavorted about- but still won titles

James hasn't won shit yet but seems to be partying pretty hard while others are working hard. I'm guessing the Wade tiff is being blown out of proportion but now there's that too. I'm just praying the Heat don't win the title this year just because I want to see how it plays out then.

So Lebron makes a paid appearance as a Vegas party host. Drinks Green tea. Makes one comment about his preference for the gender of his flying bartender. Has an impromptu "Bring it on" moment with Lamar Odom.

Um... Who gives a fuck? If the media was the same way it is now, M-Jeff wouldnt have lasted a single season in some of your eyes.

You guys forget Jordan was a gambling addict, whore mongerer, and the greatest basketball player of all time. Ive heard rumors he liked the wacky tobacky as well. I didnt know the moral high horse was at sky level for some of you. It's the tattoos isnt it?

Like someone else mentioned already, maybe if Lebron STARTS winning CHAMPIONSHIPS than we are not having this discussion right now.

The shaved head was also seen as somewhat anti-establishment at the time.

MJ was discreet. He didn't wear a huge necklace with his initials on it. He didn't parade through Casinos with a big posse acting the fool. He didn't have a TV special all about himself. I could go on and on. Please don't try to compare LBJ to MJ.

We've gotten a much better picture of Lebron the person and his behind the scenes life throughout this whole thing. He let's other guys run his life, would rather play with his friends then cement his legacy, and admitted that he was glad to go to a team where he didn't have to play great for them to win. He quit on his team and then didn't even have the decency to let the organization know his plans with a phone call and instead had some nobody do it while he was announcing on national television.

Of course this article doesn't have anything too terrible in it but when taken in the context of many of the other articles and what we've witnessed on his one hour special and the "signing victory party" and how out of touch he has been in interviews you start to see a picture of Lebron James that is not too flattering.

What's with the Jordan defense? We know about his off the court stuff too. However, Lebron is a much different type of person and I can't imagine Jordan doing many of the things Lebron has done in the past 2 months. I know he didn't announce his comeback on a 1 hour special on ESPN and then throw a "signing victory party" when he came back to the Bulls.

it'd be comical if because of all the backlash, that james comes up with this "it's me against the world" mentality. like if he said something along the lines of, "Nobody believes in me anymore. They believed in me in Cleveland, but not here where I've got a better chance of winning? That's just a negative attitude. I'll show them all how great I am and that I can do it down here. I brought the Cavs to a championship. And now I'm gonna win one with the Heat."

He is? I thought he was raping a chamber maid. Let me get this straight. Kobe the rapist is a great guy. LeBron the crown-shaped cake-eater is a scumbag. That's a pretty fucked up way to look at things, isn't it?

JORR get it through your thick skull- we're talking about basketball here. He raped someone, he didn't- that's a separate discussion. The point is Kobe (and others) are working on their game while Lebron is stroking his ego

The discussion isn't- 'who's has the highest morals in the NBA'

But you're not talking about basketball. You've all apparently changed your opinions on the man based on everything but basketball. When he plays a game any differently than he ever has maybe you'll have something to talk about.

And how do you know Kobe is working on his game? He may be smoking crack rock as we type.
