A lot of it is meatballs and media hype, and most of you guys here (because you are smart fans) weren't like that. But in 2009 most of you were.

I certainly did not fall into that category. I said in spring training 2009 Hendry put together a lousy roster. May I also point out, I was also one of the few who said they would have trouble with the Dodgers in 2008.
I have been wanting Hendry fired since 2006.

Thats true, but you are a miserable old bastard that hates everything except nap time and lukewarm oatmeal, so you skew the numbers a little bit. :P

Wow, 2 exceptions in 20 years? I am sorry I did not realize you were going to use that type of logic in this discussion. You win.

2 exceptional years. 20 years of pretty good baseball. CLEARLY REFERENCED FOR THE SIMPLEST OF MINDS TO UNDERSTAND.

i don't think since i've been on this board i've been downing the jonestown juice. not even when they won 97 games. i may be wrong...but i'm pretty sure i've always looked at the negative side for this team. and for good reason!

Come on gd, you are brighter than this. You are reaching hard for this. 1 AL Pennant/WS title and a couple other division titles in the last 20-30 years and that is "pretty good baseball"??

The only teams in the 1990s that had more wins than the Sox were the Braves and Yankees. I would consider that to be "pretty good"

It didn't equate to any Championships, but it meant that the Sox were always in the mix for a playoff spot.

If a Cubs fan said that they had good years in 07 and 08 you would be all over them for supporting a team full of losers in the playoffs. How many championships did Wilson Alvarez bring. I am not saying that you shouldnt enjoy the 90s but at least be consistant.

And in the early 00s, the Cubs didn't have a chance in hell to make the playoffs. They didn't this year either. The Cubs had a great 2008, but a miserable October.

Outside of a couple years in the late 90s, the Sox were always in the mix for a playoff spot. And for the most part they have always been in the mix for the AL Central crown in the 2000s. Lets not forget that if either Mags or Thomas stay healthy in 2004, the Sox make the playoffs.

If Kerry Wood and Mark Prior stay healthy Cubs history is different too....I didn't realize we were arguing hypotheticals now

I didn't mention either of those meltdowns. You are just changing the argument to suit your needs. I only brought them up as an example of hypotheticals which you got into when you started on the if only Frank and Magglio stayed healthy in 04. It is impossible to argue against something that didn't happen. Whaf if Frank and Magglio stayed healthy and both went into terrible slumps. It's a pointless discussion.

In fact, the opposite is true as I acknowleged 07 and 08 as good years in a previous post

I was addressing Frank with my above comment about inconsistancy
