UMN, you need to take some time off, back away from the computer, go find something else to do man. You are taking all this WAYYYY too seriously.

Hawkins gets hit for a three run shot, hits Soriano intentionally, and gets tossed.
Man, it feels like old times.

Bernsie brought up a good question yesterday. When does Castro become eligible for batting avg leaders?

Is Castro the NL ROY as well? Or is U.Jimenez considered a rookie?

Jiminez is not a rookie, but Garcia from St Louis is and so is Heyward and so is Colvin. If Colvin had some more rbi's and a few more points in B.A. he would probably pass Castro.

So you think Castro is the frontrunner? I know Heyward has cooled off a bit, bit Starlin only had a minor dip in production. His stats are extremely impressive for a 20 year old kid through almost 80 games.

Shit, I forgot about Posey. I think he has played enough to qualify for ROY, but not sure. If he were up all season it would be no contest. So its him, followed by Garcia and then Castro/Colvin/Heyward who are all about the same.

Castro's stats are right there with Heyward

Castro- 277AB .318AVG .364OBP .823OPS 32RBI and 3 home runs
Heyward- 330AB .264AVG .378OBP .823OPS 50RBI and 15 home runs

Especially when you factor in the quality of the team they both play for.

Jamie Garcia is probably the winner right now though at 9-5, 2.53 ERA 1.31WHIP with a 121IP

Buster Posey is another name to watch though as the season winds down.

As long as there is no clear cut fav I think the kid has a chance.

Heyward-330 AB .264 avg .378 OBP .823 OPS 50 rbi 15 hr
Colvin 256 AB .258 avg .319 OBP .854 OPS 39 rbi 17 hr

Those two are really close. Colvin is probably only hurt by hitting lead off and thus losing out on some RBI opportunities. If you predict Colvin's power stats at 330 ABs he is 22 hr 50 rbi.

Hopefully our next manager realizes that the last place Colvin should be hitting is lead off. Didn't realize Colvin's OPS was that high. I'd love if he learned how to take a walk or two and get that obp to around 350

He may end up leading this team in HR's this year. I didn't expect him to be this far along in his young career at this point in time. In other young cub news, Brett Jackson showed the fire and passion last night and got tossed from a game in AA.
