While I don't think Bernstein aspires to become a true white collar professional (doctor, lawyer, etc), I do think he covets the prestige accorded to white collar professions. This partially explains the fetishization of professionalism that characterizes much of his world view.

Maybe the law school people wouldn't trade but I'm sure many of the doctors would rather stay doctors. Many probably make more money and find the experience of saving someone's life more rewarding than yelling at people who think that they shouldn't have traded Luol Deng for Kobe Bryant.

i didn't listen to that show/segment only because laurence hyped it up SOOOOO much it was like "you know what? i'mma fingerbang the button" at one point i came up with a laurence holmes 30 minute broadcast drinking game that totally nailed all of his formulaic tendencies and basically allowed for you to get shitfaced/sidewalk-staining within the 30 minutes. i think it started off with a shot once he declared that he's got soooooooo much to get to tonight. then within a minute or two it's a reference to what people have been saying on facebook and blah blah blah.

you know, i always considered laurence to be OK and whatnot... save for SHAKE THAT!!!@ i never really paid too close of attention to him since i'd be zoning out of b&b and making dinner and whatnot... alls i remember from hamp and holmes is the "who took a hit off of michael phelps bong?" segment: radio unobtanium for sure.

T-Bone, when LoHo does a full 4 hour show on nights there's no White Sox game, he does a "Subliminal Song of the Night", and he'll admit ahead of time there are songs that are really, really bad. The whole point is that the "Subliminal Song" is supposed to get stuck in your head the rest of the night. Most of the time, LoHo and/or members of his production staff pick the song and it's played before the 7p "Scoreboard Update" on non-Sox gamenights.

Factually speaking, C & C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat" was a huge dance hit back in 1991, even though there were accusations that the female singer on that track didn't really sing.

Monday night, LoHo actually brought back the original 1976 "What's Happening!!!" theme, along with the 1985 update "What's Happening Now?!", complete with the jazzy horn in the middle. What he didn't tell you is that Henry Mancini recorded both of those classic TV themes.
