Weren't you dismissing Cutler's leadership capabilities based on his media tomfoolery?
It was not this incident that caused me to not think that he was a good leader. This was more evidence of it though. I said many of the same things last year before this interview ever happened.

Urlacher and Kreutz are no different in their attitudes and behavior--indeed, Urlacher is probably worse--but they are nevertheless the team's leaders. So are Cutler's media relations skills indicative of his leadership qualities, then, or not?
I don't think Urlacher and Kreutz are great leaders either. In fact, they may have similar flaws in leadership ability as Cutler which only adds to the idea that if Cutler showed a different attitude that he would be able to establish a leadership role over Kreutz who hasn't set the bar very high.
My point all along was that this type of attitude is the reason that Cutler has yet to become the leader of the offense and instead that role still goes to a declining offensive lineman. He can be a jerk too and may not be a great leader himself but until I see otherwise he's still the dominant voice on the offense. I don't want him to be like Olin Kruetz.
Cutler's media relations are indicative of his leadership qualities as are Kreutzs and Urlachers. I wouldn't call any of them great leaders at least in the last few years. I would say that there was a time when both players were and they are likely using that legacy to continue to keep a leadership role whereas Cutler is behaving similarly where if he had a different attitude he would be the natural leader of the team.
I won't deny it's a good point but "Urlacher and Kreutz are jerks to the media too" doesn't mean that I want my QB to be one also.
