I was just reading the yahoo weekly team recaps and I found this wonderful quote from lou in response to a question about playing Colvin at 1st a few times.

Piniella seemed to reject any notion of using rookie outfielder Tyler Colvin(notes) at first.

Im not apologetic for this team...but it's just a game...who cares about a bad year...give it a rest and enjoy the damn game for what it is...funny how noone was crying and everyone was appluading when we were "spending money" a few years ago, while I hated it...now everyone wants to get rid of those same players...its obvious when people change their tune they know nothing about GM'ing since they have no vision of their own of what the team should do, instead they just react to win-loss record

For me, this is it. I was looking forward to this season because Cub picked up a guy named Mel Rojas from Montreal to close. Remember him? Talk about great ball of suck. I liked Mulholland and Trachsel. Those first 14 games were absolutely brutal and it never got better. I believe this was the year that spot starter Amaury Telemaco began crying in like the 5th inning of a game while on the mound. Summed up the year nicely.
