Apparently this starts tomorrow evening. Usually a pretty good series, I wish
they had something like this during the regular season. The Jets should be a
decent team to follow during camp as they think they have a chance at the
Super Bowl this year and Revis is holding out. Rex Ryan should be a pretty
interesting character to follow as well.

I can't wait to see what "Mr. New York state of mind" Braylon Edwards shits out his mouth. You drop a hundred or so passes and then rip the cities night life and how its not conducive to your big city new york personality.

see how big of a role Mark Sanchez has. Try and sell us on the pretty boy NY QB.

I do like this show though. Looking forward to it.

This. About the only thing I miss about not having HBO these days now that Entourage blows.

You're gonna reallly miss it in a month when the new gangster series starts up. Forgot what its called, but its all about the mafia back in the day of Lucky Luciano and Al Capone. Stars Steve Buschemi. Looks like it could be really good.

Think it is called Boardwalk Empire. Looks pretty decent and the pilot episode is directed by
Martin Scorsese. Series written by the guy that did the Sopranos.

When was the last time a "period" piece/movie/show actually did well?

Or rather, why watch this when you can turn on History Channel I-V and see the films/old tangentially related guys actually retelling the Luciano/Capone/Purple Gang stories again, and again, and again....

and again?

Did it draw new subscribers? I didn't remark on its critical acclaim, and won't remark on its small but dedicated following (well except for that).

Fuck yeah he does

Thought it was a pretty good first episode. I like Rex Ryan, not only is he good for the Jets but he's also good for the show. The FB competition is going to be a good one between Tony Richardson, John Connor, and Jason Davis. I like the kid Connor, guy really plays tough and just puts hits on people.

Man does it suck to be the guys who end up getting released too, you know that when you get called by the GM this early, it's not going to be good.

Fucking ya! It's gonna be a fucking great fucking year, because we are the best fucking team if we play are best fucking ball!

While I could see how someone can say this guy is playing to the camera, I don't think so. I think he plays to the situation, cameras or not.

They had tape of him from NFL films before the show and he does the same stuff.

One thing I am really impressed is how he selects guys 'This is a mans league and you better be a tough son of a fucking bitch to play in it"

and he is really honest...good or bad "woo, 76 stinks man, he is really bad"

till it wasn't. Somewhere towards the end of season two or maybe the start of season 3 Deadwood went to shit. And it really went to shit when HBO dropped the ball on renewing all the actors contracts and they all went and took jobs elsewhere and the show had to come to an adrupt end that left a horrible taste in the viewers' mouths. The promise of a 2 hour HBO movie to wrap things up that never happened didn't help matters.

Your analysis is pretty much spot on. I think they really dropped the ball with the entire Hearst Vs. Swearengen feud. There were some good parts, but the fact that there was never any finalization really hurt the overall outlook on the series. They really should have done a movie to wrap things up.

Based on last night's episode, the Jets look like they're almost entirely composed of serial killers who have been placed on furlough by Michael Dukakis. This team seems to practice with a fury that the Bears can't match even in a game. I already had the Jets game as a loss for the Beloved, but now I'm wondering how many of our guys are going to be hospitalized.

Apparently you've never heard of a show called "The Sopranos"

Haha. You had Michael Corleone, Tommy DeVito, Henry Hill, Joey Zasa, Paulie Walnuts, Tony Soprano, etc. to choose from and you picked Steve Buscemi?? He's more of a stupid cousin / Fredo type.

Im confused. Chris was apparently mocking the choice of putting Steve Buschemi in a mafia role. I was merely pointing out that he has already played a similar role (and played it pretty well) on the Sopranos. I'm not sure why you are bringing all those other characters into the conversation.

I don't see "Mafia Gangster" when I see Steve Buscemi. I see the stupid cousin, which is what he was in Sopranos. That's what I meant.

EDIT: Just reread it. Sorry, missed the sarcasm.

Good point. But I'm still a big Steve Buscemi fan. That guy could play any role and do a great job with it.

Oh yeah. Terrific actor. "Rockhound" was classic. I had a great spot picked out there!!

If Steve Buscemi could pull off playing Rex Ryan in Hard Knocks, I'm sure he'll be awesome in the new Mafia show.
