There was a pretty good article about him in last month's Chicago magazine. It focued on a friendship he had struck up with a reformed alcoholic he had met through his daughter. The guy kind of became like the son Big Danny never had. The article suggested he wasn't long for this world.

Dan Rostenkowski had a great deal of power & influence in his position on Capitol Hill for decades. I remember a time, circa 1994, where "Rosty" actually showed his comedic side. The day after he lost his seat in the 5th Congressional District, "Rosty" actually showed up to FOX32 studios hours after losing to grab Bob Sirott & Marianne Murciano on the former "FOX Thing in the Morning" coffee. :lol: :lol: After all, "Rosty" needed something to do with all the unexpected free time.

Unexpected? He laid down in that race versus Flanagan in order to convert his campaign fund into income (perfectly legal at the time). The man knew what he was doing.
