Because Baron was better up until that season. The differences we were having is you wanted to call guys that had 1 good/great season or 8 great games the best at their position. My stance was I needed to see more. I wasn't willing to overlook a body of work from other guys because of a few highlights.
If you don't think a guy that has the ball in his hands on every play needs to be a good FT shooter you are crazy. He becomes a liability in the 4th quarter. He can't run the offense in a close game because they may start "Hack-a-Rondo" even under 2 mins. I'm sure you know there is a huge difference between a big man that can't shoot free throws well and a PG that actually shoots them worse(46% in 24 playoff games to Howard's 52%).
