Absolutley. You should too. Most wars and evil in the world's history has been done in the name of religion. So thanks. I take that as a compliment. Pardon me if I'm skeptical of some guy named Joel Osteen becoming a millionaire for simply saying that Jesus is good and that you should love everybody. You could just get that from the Bible. You don't need to hear him say it and send him a donation. He preys on the stupid, scared and weak minded. He's rich and most of his followers aren't. I'd be posititve and happy if I were him too. You watch. He'll be exposed for something criminal in the next few years. Look at him for the love of God. How do you trust somebody that looks like him?

You paint with an incredibly broad brush, Rembrandt!
I have never seen so many generalities in one post.
Looks like him? What the hell do you look like? What is the correct "look" a religious or inspirational leader is supposed to have?
"He'll be exposed for something criminal in the next few years."
Why is that? You just can't believe in someone spreading a positive message, can you.
I am sure that you pray to whatever twisted higher power that you believe in that Osteen does something horrible just to prove you right, even if it were to hurt millions of his followers.
You, sir, are a hater of the first order.
You are judging people on income, location, religion, looks - anything you can find.
People that have a sickness like yours scare the hell out of me.

Fine. Send him a check. I'm not stopping you. Don't say I didn't warn you when he's in jail. You probably thought that Jim and Tammy Baker were wonderful people. If you didn't learn from that, you'll never learn.

I don't always judge people on looks. Only people asking for money. If you look like a con man and walk like a con man, you're probably a con man.

Not sure, but I'm guessing he's received quite a few donations from Ted Haggard.

Again, nice suppositions.
You make the false statement that I thought that the Bakers were wonderful people, then you try to reinforce your lies by saying that "If you didn't learn from that, you'll never learn."
I never liked the Bakers or thought they were legit. Don't put words in my mouth.
"I don't always judge people on looks." Right! You judge them on their beliefs, the location of their residence, their income, and so on.
You are a hater of the worst ilk. You make Elmhurst Steve look like he is Dr.Martin Luther King, Jr.
Mister Reason called you a "dope." Reason has done the "dopes" of the world a great disservice.

I'm setting the over/under on money donated to Joel Osteen by SteveSarley at $100.

I'll take the over.

Not sure how that affects the odds.

Not a dime, Rick!
As a matter of fact, I've only seen Osteen a half dozen times.
I found his messages to be sincere and easily understood.
He doesn't use fire and brimstone and basically talks about how
we should all treat each other.
I was surprised at how little mention of money he makes, unlike almost
every other televangelist on the screen.

Wrong. I'm sticking up for the poor and stupid people that he preys on. Osteen is the thief. And yes, I hate him. He will be in jail. And I will accept your apology to me when that happens. Cuz that's what Jesus would do. See, I didn't even need Osteen to tell me that.

If he gets caught, I apologize and if he doesn't?
You use a typically underhanded ruse, BD.
What is the time limit for getting caught?
A year? A decade? Infinity?
If he still hasn't been "caught" fifty years from now, you
will just fall back on the excuse that he hasn't been caught "yet."
Again, hater, you assume that all of his supporters are "poor and stupid."
I don't know your financial situation, but if "stupid" is a qualification for
following Osteen, you should be sitting in the front row of his congregation.

I don't care about his wealthy supporters or his "smart ones". I'm sure he has those too. But you really can't be smart if you support him. I feel bad for his poor supporters. The senior citizens that give him half of their Social Security checks. That's pretty sad to me even though I'm an awful "hater" in your mind.

It's very hard for me to trust people. I'm certainly not gonna trust some bible-thumping jack ass that asks for donations just cuz he's a positive thinker and tells people to love everybody. It's a safe way to live IMO. Call me crazy for being curious as to where that money goes. Especially when you see him living in a mansion and living the high life. I know that makes me an idiot in your mind, but most people are thinking the same thing.

I don't have a time limit on his arrest. He is guilty. Probably of a lot of things. It's just a matter of them catching him and being able to prove it.

How long did it take you to find a blog that was anti-Osteen?
It's a blog, brain surgeon.
Did you read the rebuttals or just the parts you liked?
A blog is just an opinion.
You are a hater and a person that groups people into categories on an unfair basis.
I am done with this subject.
Just put me on ignore and sit there and hope that Joel Osteen gets in trouble.
That is the Christian way to do things, isn't it, Mister Holier-than-thou?

I'll support Joel Osteen until he wants try to build a mosque two blocks away from Halas Hall. I'm not gonna have him rubbing his religion in the face of my football team.

The Christian thing to do is hope he gets arrested so he can't rob poor people. They need to be protected from themselves. Yes, I do root for criminals to be arrested. I'm not going to apologize for that. I'm not holy. Although I once saw the Virgin Mary on a piece of toast I made. So that's something.

I'm done with this subject too. I win. Osteen loses. Just another day on the message board. I never wanted it to go like this. I just wanted to inform everybody that Lovie supports him.

Exactly. Osteen probably spends less time talking about God than any other preacher that I have ever seen. He's not your typical preacher. Actually, he's not even schooled or trained in religion.
Regardless of your religious preferences, Joel Osteen is a very good speaker who talks about self perseverance, self reliance, positivity, & treating people with respect & dignity.

Much as I really tend to agree with Scorehead about.... well... nothing at all, I'm with him on this one. Osteen's message is more about bettering yourself than it is about religion. Yes, he's a televangelist, which usually means a con man. But if he helps just one person live their life better, then more power to him. If somebody who maybe had been turned off by the scandals of other large churches, say Catholics, finds Christ because of him then more power to him. He's not hurting anybody.

Joel Osteen's mullet is the most successful mullet ever. Wipes the floor with Billy Ray's mullet. Maybe his mullet can coach the Bears.
