1st Base next year is going to be really interesting for us. It really could be anyone. In house options I bet they are considering Ramirez, Hoffpauir, Soriano, Colvin. Plus there are some interesting, albeit expensive, options available on the market.

Once Lee is gone there isn't really anyone that someone would want to trade for. Nobody is taking Soriano's contract. Colvin is a rookie and cheap so Ricketts won't move him. Hoffpauir is a career minor leaguer which nobody would want except maybe MacFail. The only person the Cubs might be able to move is Ramirez if he gets off to a hot start next year.

Soriano at first would most likely mean Brett Jackson forced their hand and makes the big league club next year. Which would obviously be a great thing. Hopefully Vitters comes back healthy and is ready to replace Ramirez. He was just starting to tear up AA pitching before he got hurt...again.
