Caviar in pregame?

How dare they!

Seriously the fact that this is even covered let alone a hot topic on the radio today proves this is hooterville USA.

The usual single digit IQed calling in to say How dare they eat caviar when the economy is so bad of course.

Anyone that calls into say that needs to be shot.

There was this one time that Billy the Kid showed up at my work demanding caviar. He said he didn't know what it was but that he had to have it. When I told him it was fish eggs he yelled, "It better smell better than your old lady!" and he ran out the door hootin' and hollerin'. Its too bad he never got his his fish eggs, and its too bad that semi truck couldn't stop in time. Splat, indeed.

If he could, Jimmy Reardon would marry that picture.

I cannot say I am surprised the Cub flubbed this.

Mix-up leads to Fuld call-up from Iowahttp://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/08/snafu-leads-to-fuld-call-up-from-iowa.html

By Paul Sullivan

In an unfortunate error, the Cubs mistakenly told Triple-A Iowa first baseman Micah Hoffpauir on Wednesday he was being called up to replace Derrek Lee.

But Hoffpauir was ineligible to return after just being sent down on Monday, so center fielder Sam Fuld found out during batting practice in Sacramento Wednesday that he was being called up instead. Fuld took the red-eye to Chicago and was given Derrek Lee's locker.

"'Hoffy' was on his way to the airport, I think, and he had to turn around," Fuld said. "It's just one of those things. It's unfortunate for him, but it was a welcome surprise."

Hoffpauir has to wait 10 days before being called up again. Instead of Hoffpauir, Tyler Colvin is taking ground balls at first for the first time as a Cub.

Manager Lou Piniella wouldn't commit to using Colvin at first, but he'll likely to get a chance at some point. Xavier Nady and Jeff Baker are the first basemen for now, and Hoffpauir is still with the Iowa Cubs.

"That whole situation was surprising," Fuld said. "I know he has to be down in Triple-A certain number of days, so it did come as a surprise."

Piniella said Colvin could play first in the near future, and that the move would "give the new people a headstart on what the options are (in 2011)." By the "new people" he was referring to his replacement and the next coaching staff.

This is exactly what needs to be done. They need to find out whether or not guys like Hoffpauir or Colvin are thought to be realistic options for 2011 at 1st base. I'm not surprised that Hoffpauir was the initial option sought. I won't be surprised if he gets a great deal of time at the position, once he's recalled next week. It is embarassing that Hendry did not realize that Hoffpauir was not eligible to be recalled yet though. But on the list of why Hendry should be fired, this isn't real high.

poor Hoffpauir, it's amazing how Bully Hendry works the system
