How come Mike Quade doesn't have eyebrows?

Actually yes I would. I'm sure Kid will find his way there that way.

If the Cubs record were reversed, Lou would still be with this team.

that is why it bothers me that he is using his mother as an excuse. Just man up and say that watching overpaid players sleepwalk through September is not the way you want to end your career.

Lou Piniella can never say that he never quit anything. And that sucks for him. He'll have to live with quitting on this team back in May and officially in August.

Didn't Lou quit on his dream job in Tampa when the going got rough?

Promises made by management at the time of Hire were never fulfilled.

That destroys the big marketing splash they can create when the hire Saint Ryno right after the season.

Not really....they can have Quade be the guy the rest of 2010 and make the move with Sandburg this winter.

Thank you for restating Bob's point Mr. Obvious. Now go call Mac, Swaddle, and the Salon (yes I fucking meant to spell it that way) so everyone can know the greatness that is the brilliant Elmhurst Steve.

Sounds like Lou is getting the Dusty Baker treatment from fans. He may deserve it but it's interesting how he's turned into quite the villain lately.

I can't blame him for overpaid, under performing, and borderline psychotic players letting the team down. He still hasn't done a great job though.

In comparison to those that came before him he was a great manager. If he would have made his winning seasons every other year they would still love him. The fans did cheer for him yesterday though.

While I fully respect his body of work between 2007 and mid 2009, I doubt it can be denied that he straight up gave up on the Cubs. The players knew it, and played like they knew it.

So by that logic you consider Bill Cartwright and Dick Jauron great coaches?

Unlike Dick Jauron and Bill Cartwright (as a coach), Lou actually accomplished some things. He led the Cubs to 3 consecutive winning seasons. He also guided the team to consecutive division titles, for the first time in 100 years. No, he did not do well in the post-season and did not reach the ultimate goal of a Championship, but he did a pretty fair job prior to 2010. Then again, he was dealt such a poor hand this season, I doubt if any Manager could have guided this squad to another division title, much less a WS title.

Funny how when Baker had a shit team & rookie pitchers,he sucked. Seems a lot more love for Lou,but then again,Lou didn't have his 88 year old mother on his lap after a Playoff loss.

I liked Jauron but I didn't consider either create coaches. I thought Cartwright was going to put a hole in the floor stomping his feet. Lou is still a HoF coach and those guys were nowhere near HoF coaches.
