When he was 'in between jobs', he rented a house in Deerfield. Lived 3 doors down from my buddy.

Simple Ranch 4 bedroom place, nothing special at all, just liked being in the burbs of Chicago with his kids.

The one night I got to talk with him, he said he would highly consider a KC job as much as a NY job, because he loves to be in the midwest.

So I do think there is some genuine desire of Girardi to be in Chicago, rather than NY.

Additionally, I don't think any manager would pass up the Cubs job these days because we know it pays well, you know they are going to be doing everything they can to break it down so you will have some flexibility and it's the longest losing streak in Sports. To be the manager of that team, might be instant HOF status?

For sure, it is instant trophy on Clark!

It would also be an admission by Hendry that he made a mistake by not hiring him the first time.
IF Girardi is the next manager, Hendry didn't hire him.

Girardi did a great job with the young players he managed when he was the Marlins skipper. If the Cubs are going with youth, he might be a very good choice. I like Girardi. But my first choice would be LaRussa, with his pitching coach Dave Duncan coming along as well.

Hendry has done many things well but more things that have set this shit back by 10 years.

Why would Girardi come here? The team has spent money, but not very well. Ricketts seems to value the changes to the farm system highly, but that's no reason to diminish the terrible contracts handed out by Hendry.

It's looking like Hendry does not want a manager who's going to give him any shit. So you can probably cross Sandberg, Brenly and Girardi off the list. And I was wondering why Quade was given the job and it's because him and Hendry are good buddies, which is a big strike against Quade right off the bat.

Whoever Hendry picks will be the wrong guy, you can bet on that.

Isn't 11 the last year on Hendry's contract? I have a sneaky feeling he won't be making the managerial decision.

the only time they try it out is when theyre having a bad year, like in 2006...but in 2007, he retooled, signed a bunch of veterans, expecting to contend...he will do the same thing this offseason...and he has said so publicly

anybody who really believes in this "youth movement" really doesn't know Hendry...he is a bully of epic proportions to his players

Hendry mentioned recently that he would be looking to make "2 Key Aquisitions" this coming winter, to bolster the team. Lets say (for the sake of argument) he was targeting Prince Fielder or Adam Dunn for 1st base and Cliff Lee as the 2nd player. That would dramatically alter the team. I don't believe the Cubs will do that, but Hendry's comment made me wonder if Ricketts has approved of further spending this winter, in order to try to contend sooner, rather than later.

I think it's more prudent and likely, that they go young. In that case, Girardi or Sandberg makes more sense than LaRussa.
