For all you proggers out there heres your chance to expound on the self-indulging flatulence that are songs that take up most of an album side ( in the old days anyway). Have at it.

My dad had a CD of a bunch of versions of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, and one was an epic live version that I believe broke the ten minute mark...

Im surprised the Eagles could stand each other long enough to record something 10 minutes long together. Must not do it live too often.

The only version of this song that doesn't is the "Single" version.

The studio version clocks in around 18 minutes if I'm not mistaken

Looking through my odd library, I reckon I'll note these:

- I have a 33:40 long live so-called "Mountain Jam" by the Allman Brothers, which is my longest song currently ... it almost dies twice, but quickly and surprisingly picks back up

- Alice's Restaurant Massacree (which really, /thread) @ 18:34

- I have a "Suite for Guitar & Orchestra" by Kenny Burrell @ 17:39

- "Proof" done by Pat Matheny from the album 'Speaking of Now', a really nice version of it at that (actually, the best version) just qualifies at 10:18

- A live version of "Shake Everything You Got" by Maceo Parker (et al) ... incidentally, if you have any love of Funk, you really should look under every rock for a copy of that album "Life on Planet Groove".

- The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys (Traffic) @ 11:39

- The rarely, if ever, heard full version of "My Ding-a-Ling" by Chuck Berry is amusing to hear since my guess is that everyone assumes the version they've heard on the radio is the only copy that exists; the album version runs 11:36

- "All Blues" (Miles Davis) comes in one second less at 11:35

You are correct; it entails the entirety of the "B" side of the vinyl pressing ... and, yes, I do happen to have a nice copy, thank you.

well if you're going to include jazz there would be a million

on a side note, I've never really cared much for jazz guitar...I appreciate Burrell and Grant Green, etc. but the sound doesn't really do it for me

Damn kids with your rock 'n' roll overdrive fuzz distortion reverb ..........

Try John Scofield ... he uses the Leslie sound but likes to de-tune some harmonics generally during the middle part of a solo. It's something different; not promising anything.

Agreed, that's a great album 8) I used to have it :(

As far as rock goes, I guess that I can state the obvious of Moby Dick by Led Zeppelin (Achilles Last Stand is another one). Jimi Hendrix's Machine Gun is a pretty good one, too...

My attention span does not allow me to like any 10+ minute song.
