Hmmmm so many choices...to make a Maywood joke based on the thread title? No Elmhurst Steve has been far to relevant lately....Instead I will ask if anybody has any news on Stephen Strasburg's arm?

Nicely played.

It's worth the gamble. the guy has the ability still to make a positive difference. Over a full season...probably not. But for 5 weeks, I think he's very capable. I still don't see the Sox catching the Twins, but it should put butts in empty seats and infuse some enthusiasm into the team as well as the fan base.

Does Manny pitch decent relief innings?
If not... what the hell do they want with him right now?

I have mixed feelings to be honest with you. There is no question Manny Ramirez upgrades the DH spot for the White Sox if they get him. However, there's a great deal of baggage and shtick that Ozzie will have to tolerate if Manny sports the Sox silver & black.

Here's something else to consider. MLB/FOX Sports' analyst Tim McCarver, who works the Phillies/Padres' game tomorrow afternoon, told "The Dan Patrick Show" this morning that Manny's not in shape and questioned his committment to the Dodgers from the getgo. Ultimately, if the White Sox make the Manny deal before next Tuesday's Waiver Deadline, there's also a certain someone Uncle Jerry can't stand. Manny's agent is Scott Bora$, and there have been conflicting reports about whether Manny ultimately wants more $$$$ from the White Sox or other teams...Quite frankly, I don't want Manny.

No SHARK

I will not consider anything McCarver says.

He is going to want a ridiculous amount on this extension he seems to be demanding. He is only going to play hard and give a shit until he doesn't and no one knows when that might be except him and even he doesn't know.

I think that could be a dealbreaker, UMN. Peter Gammons was on "Mully & Hanley" this morning and the veteran Boston Globe scribe/MLB Network analyst isn't so sure that Manny's coming here when the dust settles.
