It wont be perfect when Ricketts stops spending money because there are no more sell outs. It stinks that I cant get a Cubs ticket whenever i want, but I want every game to sell out so they can spend the money.

the yankees did it with their farm system and then signing guys to complement them and keep the momentum going

Hendry fails to realize this...he wants to sign a bunch of retreads and sprinkle in a couple kids...No...thats not how u do it...the kids should be some of ur cornerstones...in the last 20 years the Cubs have not developed ONE position player that was a cornerstone of their lineup for years to come...NOT ONE!!...and dont say Mark Grace, he came up in 1988

how do u think the Reds are doing it? with Votto and Bruce! and other quality kids mixed in...and then Rolen mixed in as a veteran presence...that team is now built to win for years to come because of this and their assortment of good young pitchers...

I like Castro but to me we need another one of him or two...we need to have our own identity...not try and melt a bunch of Eric Young's together every year

once u get the momentum going, then, yes, spending money helps you because u have an established cutlture that u can hang ur hat on...instead of always trying to appeal differently to every guy u try to sign, which ends up being a flailing colloid

I'm tired of explaining this to every damn guy on here that comes along and equates "spending money" with "winning"...things aren't that simple

No, spending money does not equal winning, look at the Cubs and Mets for examples of that. The key is spending money wisely. I couldnt care less if the Cubs won a WS title with Castro and Colvin or if they traded them for veterans who got the job done. The whole point is to win the World Series.
