1. Doug and OB (i don't care if its just a post game wrap, this is by far the most entertainment in the least amount of time)
2. B & B (the earlier time slot, 10-2 I think it was, liked that one best)
3. Murph (didn't really appreciate him at all while he was around, but now that he is gone there is kind of a void, its nice to hear an actual cubs fan)

4. Goff for the future

Thats all I got, its not like there is a huge amount of guys I can remember to pick from. Fuck north, he always annoyed the shit out of me. I rarely ever at all put on 1000 so I don't even know who the hell is on over there.

1) MJH. Loved it. Make Darko smile. Ended up starting to hate Harry. Hate Harry.

2) B&B (today). Best show on the radio today. Thank you. Love it.

3) Goff (fill in). Always a hoot. Likey.

4) Mac. I'm not sure why. He kinda dissed us. Sucky. Bad. Not sure why. I'm scared for a MacNorthing.

5) Rosie and Paruch saturday mornings. Nice. Sounds drunk.

Old school:
Love me some mariotti. that was fun. And Silvy and Carm was pretty good. They were all better than Rome. I miss Rosie and Salisbury because Uncle Rico always said something completely ridiculous almost every 5 minutes. He was so awful it was actually fun.

Mike North did not make the Score by himself. That's revisionist history, as if the HFC never existed and didn't have to move the meters during afternoon drive, as if the contributions of McNeil and Boers did not define the Score, too. The Monsters had the fun, happy-go-lucky meatball show and the HFC had the wry smart-ass show.

At their best the Monsters were laugh-out-loud good (Caning, anyone?)—nothing North has done since remotely compares to 1993-1995 Monsters—but Jiggets seems to get little credit for being the ideal straight man. North couldn't recreate similar chemistry with anyone co-host after 1999, nor could he re-establish it with Jiggets. Again, it's as if North came down the mountain with the fucking tablets inscribed with how to create sports radio.

If you're going to credit North with the first eight years of the Score, then he needs to take the blame for nearly undoing it in the eight years that followed. A consequence of his power grab was the loss of Dan McNeil, which led to WMVP's unprecedented dominance of the Score in afternoon drive for much of the previous decade. To be fair, by the same token you could say it directly led to the creation of B&B. North's morning show failure is well-documented. He never succeeded in morning or afternoon drive when they mattered more than they do now. And though the Score hasn't and won't return to those halcyon days of 15 years ago, it's a much better station than it was in the mid-2000s.

OK then, to answer the original question, 1)-5) Seka.

I'm just sick of the North hagiography.

1. Heavy Fuel Crew (great combo of typical sports talk and solid comedy)
2. Boers & Bernstein (no show more full of sarcasm and offensively rude hosts)
3. Monsters Of The Midday (perfect storm of meatballism, fun until HE got too full of himself)
4. The Joe Cain Show (you whipper snappers want UNINTENTIONAL COMEDY?)
5. Murph (no one created a more unique, consistent, and original show)

Jalapenos - agree completely about North. The one thing I'd add is, to the common everyday Chicagoan, North is better known than any other host. With is "Q" rating, you gotta figure he'd find a venture that would catapult him to bigger things.

On the other hand, I could set up a talk show tommorrow with an outspoken cabbie, short order cook, and a barber. A show of "characters", just like North is a "character." Wouldn't work without a straight man. Too much tumult; I'd turn away from the noise.

As to our list,

1. B&B (before the FCC crackdown, which incidentally happened in the 10-2 shift. And yeah, that's when Terry started to clam up.)
2. Heavy Fuel Crew.
3. Murph. You don't call the guy up to argue sabre crap. This was the one guy whose theme was "fandom."
4. Monsters. I acknowledge them but don't like them. Well, I don't like North
5. Baum and Rosenbloom. The Saturday morning goof-fest, with Baum as the goofy uncle.

1- HFC - Great show, doesnt get enough credit.

2- Monsters - Both Jigs and Pappy made the show, but to me, not the sole reason the score took off.

3- MJH - Best show ESPN will ever have

4- Rongey - For his job alone, he deserves to be on the list.

5- B-B - In my opinion, best show ever.

I enjoyed Tdub alot.

Not enough for the Top 5, but probably in the Top 10 to be sure.

Tdub was the first host I ever heard on the Score. When they went 50,000 watts in 1999, I picked them up down here south of the border one evening. That eventually lead me here and things have went downhill ever since.

I'm a bit off kilter with mine.

1. Steve Czaban - national host formerly of FSR - had such an easy listen and knew enough across the leagues that he was easy to follow and not feel like he was pigeon holed by being on the 4 letter network.

2. B&B - been a fan for a long time, probably because I can be a dick like them - which attracts me to the show.

3. The grobber - Maybe it's the late night callers or maybe it's the encyclopedia in his head but he's the anti Murph. He's versatile in all sports and while he's not a deep analyst, he knows enough about the teams and games to sound intelligent and debate the late night drunk guys.

4. North and Jiggs (first time around) - certainly had a great show - some of the best bits....Caning for example.

5. Steve Rosenbloom - I didn't like with Salisbury, but I do like him as a fill in guy and on Saturday mornings. Not sure why I placed him here above say Goff (who is definitely above average) but I've liked my recent listens of rosie.

He's now on sporting news radio. 6-10A eastern. I have yet to catch his show though. It's only been on for a few days.

I seriously forgot him

I was in the way back machine for my list.

Knock off B an B and put in Larry.

The repetitive nature or B and B cancels out how funny they are sometimes for me.

Larry is Awesome

I haven't listened to him for a number of years now, but the most popular morning guys in
Milwaukee are friends with him and would have him on every Friday and he was great. I
used to have an hour drive each way and this would be the most anticipated 30-40 minutes
of the commute each week.
