QBs need an opportunity to be good before they can be great.

I like what I've seen from Louis and Chris Williams was arguably their best lineman last season. I think going up against Peppers everyday got him thinking too much. When the season starts I think he will be better because of it and won't have the same problems.

Getting 1 offensive starter out of back to back drafts is great. Especially considering you developed from a TE to a G. Either way they draft more than 2 in the last 5 years.

I hope you are right about Williams but he hasn't shown that much so far in his Bears career up to this point. As for what you have seen that you have liked about Louis I haven't seen it yet. I think Louis and Omayale are straight up liabilities at their positions.

Williams was great last year. Of course Louis could end up being bad but I don't expect him to. He will make the biggest impact in the running game with his athleticism. Frankie turnstile was also very good during the preseason but I can't say I believe he will keep that up. He looked great last year in training camp and ended up sucking.

I should say Chris Williams was great at RT last season but okay at LT last season.

If everyone on the line has looked good this preseason why has Cutler spent so much time on his back so far? Kruetz and Garza? Exotic blitz packages in the preseason? Bears pretending to suck to take other teams by surprise once the real season starts?

Chris Williams has gotten beaten more times than Tina Turner and Cutler tends to hold onto the ball too long.

I think it works better if you take out the Cutler stuff.

I like both parts of it equally. I will leave it up as they start on their GLORIOUS run at 12 and 4.

I'll shallow it up for you next time.

Rex Grossman gave and Jay Cutler gives, me the "I'm not so sure about these guys" feeling, which leads to "hope they can be good."
The difference is that the 05 Bears were a tad better that the 09 Bears. I suspect that will be the same this year too.

I believe the Bears have only drafted 1 or 2 OL in the last 4 or 5 drafts. Someone on the Score mentioned this over the weekend.

You're thinking of the Brad Biggs article: "From 2003 to 2007, a span of five drafts, the Bears selected one lineman in the first five rounds — Josh Beekman. The fourth-round pick from '07 was waived Saturday."

The "play above it" argument makes no sense. It's like telling a pitcher to throw his fastball 5 miles an hour faster because the defense behind him sucks and his team can't hit.

Aaron Rodgers has had horrible lines and played above it.

Thats why he's a top 3 QB and Cutler is not.

Is there no middle ground between sucking and being a top 3 QB? Even during all the euphoria when Cutler first came here, he was considered a borderline top 10 QB.

Yea, that's it. J Hood & Fred were just talking about that tonight.

Nas, Nas, Nas. What's with the Chris Windmill Williams love? This preseason he looked like a revolving door at Macy's on State Street.

Actually, you start with the love, then tell us he's been beaten more times than Tina Turner. Shouldn't laugh at domestic abuse jokes, but  .
