So I guess that yesterday, Castro forgot how many outs there were and didn't run out a grounder resulting in a double play. Mind you the Cubs were blown the fuck out yesterday 18-5.
Quade puts in Darwin Barney and said this:

Quote:
"Every so often it's better for a player to observe than participate. I thought he really should watch a game or so and sit with some very smart people on my staff and kind of keep an eye on things and maybe reflect a little bit. He's had so much thrown at him, but I think sometimes step back, take a look at things, give a guy a couple days ... lapses of concentration and stuff, maybe he can reflect on."

Is this a "look at me, I ain't afraid to sit the only guy consistantly performing" move?
This is the kind of thing that meatballs want right? Wasn't Lou a jerk for not sitting players who had a bout of suck?

Nice move Quade. You had to pull this stunt on the game I have to attend. Watching Castro ab's was going to be the highlight.

Hard to say which; he's too new to the job and thus has no context to judge this action with. I do like however that he appears to have put together a cogent thought in regards to why he apparently did what he did. That said, even if it was more grandstanding than discipline, the latter is still called for so the move itself was likely a good idea regardless of actual motivation.

He had a chance to do it with Soriano and didn't. Treat the veteran different than the rookie is BS in my book. Nuff said.

In that case, Ramirez should just have a permanent seat on the bench.

Would you want Soriano sitting next to you all game?

I have to LOL when people say Quade deserves to get the interim taken off his title and be the Manager next year. Those people are funny.

I like the move. I don't think he does it with aram or soriano because both are lost causes. I want aram's ass on the bench from now on though so we can see if Colvin's college teammate Marquez Smith is legit.

This was fucking stupid. Castro gets sat down for making a rookie mistake? HE'S A ROOKIE. Pull him aside and talk to him but he has to play every damn day. Stupid move by a rookie manager trying to make a name for himself.

This whole situation is just stupid (and is also fucking up my fantasy team). This wasn't some play where Castro was dogging it out in the field or at the plate. He made a stupid mistake, it happens. The fact that he has been sat down for two days and now possibly a thrid game is completely ridiculous.

Well, if the boner lasted for more than 4 hours, he should probably not play, and seek medical attention.

I'm actually surprised it took 2 days for someone to make that joke.

I'd imagine people aren't checking the Cubs section with the same frequency these days. Year One!

Apparently you all have forgotten when Manager Gus Cantrell had to sit the big time prospect Billy "Downtown" Anderson for a few games after the kid ignored a bunt sign and swung away for a walk off. Even though he hit a home run he didn't have the best interest of the ball club in mind and this was an important lesson in his growth as ball player. They never would have been able to defeat the Twins later that year had he not learned this critical lesson.

He's a rookie so he'll make some mistakes. Taking him out of the game was enough and sends the message. Sitting him out a couple games is beyond excessive. It was a lost game in a completely lost season

But what is Quade standing up to? Anybody could have made the same mistake. It wasn't some player being lazy at the plate or in the field. He's taken the only attraction this team has at the moment, and the only player who has performed well this entire season and put him on the bench. Castro should be getting every at bat he can possibly get this year.

Quade is just looking for attention if he sits him out for more than a game

but at least he played Barney in his place...Barney should really be playing second everyday...i dont understand Hendry's love for retreads like DeWitt and Nady

why our starting infield isnt Aram, Castro, Barney, and Hoffpauir, is mind-boggling

Barney? I readily admit some of this is based on my "eye test" of him, but I fucking hate this guy already. I have seen him both on tv & at the ballpark (box seats behind dugout...so was close) and I just dont like the way the Mf'r carry's himself. The way he chomps on his gum, watching him step out of the box and adjust his batting gloves and just a whole bunch of of other charateristics that rub me the wrong way. I realize that every ballplayer has these actions but he just seems so cocky,....and frankly, to me, he looks like nothing more than a poor mans ryan theriot.

Maybe he'll turn out to be a stud, and I'll have to like him,...but my I'd put money on that NOT happening.

I figured it was a mult for awhile but then some of the stuff he says is almost too stupid not to be real. Like it would be difficult to come up with it if you don't believe it. I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised either way really.

Snyder? yeah sure. I saw his major league debut. Quickly 0 & 2 and looked lost after 2 pitches....then of course the strike out follows and he walks slowly back to the dugout. The cubs farm system is stocked!
