Went to the game yesterday and there seemed to be more people in the concorse area than the stands. Not a lot there at all, really.

Wonder if the KC Cougars can out-draw a Cubs or Sox game!

That number represents tickets sold. The number of people in the park was a LOT lower. As much as most teams would love to sell 33,000 tickets to a game this time of year, to have as many no-shows as they have lately, really hurts the team financially. Parking/concession revenues have all been substancially reduced for games in the past several weeks.

I don't think the Cubs really have any substantial parking revenues to speak of.

I'm girding my loins for the inevitable crowing about how the Cubs aren't going to win the "attendance championship" from the same people who routinely assail fans for paying to see bad baseball.

why do u care about their revenues? Im just happy more people didnt subject themselves to shitty food at 3 times the price...since when do we care about 1 guy's revenue and not the health of the masses??

either way the owners are doing just fine...

Has anybody ever reported what the Cub season ticket sales are minus those purchased by corporations?

This will solve the ticket problems.

Cubs fire director of sales and promotions
By Paul Sullivan

MILWAUKEE -- As the Cubs near the end of a disappointing season marked by sagging attendance at Wrigley Field, they have fired their sales and promotions director.

Matt Wszolek, a 10-year Cubs employee, had replaced Jay Blunk as head of the marketing department in 2008 after Blunk and former Cubs president John McDonough left to run the Blackhawks. The news of Wszolek's dismissal was first reported on ESPNChicago.com.

Wszolek's role in the department was reduced last fall when the Ricketts family took control of the club and named Wally Hayward as executive vice-president, chief sales and marketing officer.

Hayward was unavailable for comment, but told ESPNChicago.com the move was part of a "restructuring" of the marketing department.

good. the marketing has sucked balls the last couple years. i remember seeing all kinds of specialized player plastic shit all over stores years ago, there were all kinds of stupid cool cubs shit to buy... its nothing like that anymore. just the basic shirts and hats. im going to start a new team, theyll play both baseball and football and never really know what theyre doing. ill call them the chicago adolescents.
