the call was wrong. the rule is stupid. i do feel bad for the lions, it was wrong. and now the bears think they beat someone. this is the worst case scenario. we will lose every game for the rest of the next 5 years.

this will still keep this team in games when they don't belong because that offense is still horrendous.

however, keep in mind they were playing against a guy who doesn't belong in the NFL as QB for half the game.

Well I thought they were going to get destroyed today, so I'm happy with a win no matter how deserving or undeserving it might have been...

That's a game you need to win by double digits once Stafford is out. I'm sure ZZ will have plenty of positives.

A win is a win. I don't care how they got it. Screw the Lions and Johnson. I thought the defense looked good and I also think for the most part Cutler played well.

The Lions aren't the worst, St Louis is still around.

Without Stafford, the Lions are worse than the Rams. Shaun Hill is awful.

Yeah he did. I don't want to hear anymore of this crap about how this team would be better without him. Last year's defense was brutal without him. The defense playing well today with him back in the lineup is no coincident

This has to be the dumbest group of receivers in the league. Knox made a few plays, but ran the wrong way a few times. All those deep drops, and Cutler looking like he was holding the ball too long. It's hard to tell on TV if guys are running routes correctly.

Defense looked serviceable but the offense looked scared to make a mistake. Forte dances around way too much. Running game must improve. More Taylor please.

This is the Lions.....the defense should look good. Could a offense look any worse than the Lions, not including the Bears? Has the bar been lowered this much?

I wouldn't trump any defensive greatness. Wait until the real teams show up.

I did not trump any defensive greatness. But they looked way better than they did last year.

You are correct. It is the Lions. They are awful and lost one of their best players. They should have won. This is a V, but a very very very bad V.

The ghost of Walter Payton controlled the refs into disallowing a TD catch by Calvin Johnson. No big deal, normal soldier field stuff.

A rule is a rule. The way the rule is worded, the call was made correctly.

That said, the Bears should be 0-1

It will be all over the hilites, Z.

Calvin Johson made an outstanding catch in the endzone with about 30 secionds left in the game. As he landed, he palmed the ball with his right hand. He landed, slid a bit, and as the ball hit the ground, he let go of it.

That, apparently, is not completing the process of the catch so therefore it was ruled incomplete.

So like I said, it was called correctly in regards to how the rule was written, but it was a TD catch for sure.

Johnson made a 1 handed grab, clearly had control of the ball and had both feet come down in the end zone. As he came to the ground, he let go of the ball (still with one hand) and it squibbed out of the end zone.

This is as bad as the "tuck rule" of a few years back.

The call was correct according to the rule. If Johnson would have used two hands on the ball he would have held on to it. If Lions fans want to blame anybody, they should blame Calvin Johnson.

Basically, if a player has to jump to make a catch, he needs to hold onto the ball until the following game. If he doesn't, it's incomplete.

In 'Old School' football, it would have been a TD 3 different ways. He had 2 feet down, his body was down, and the ground can't cause a fumble. Today's rules however, BEARRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSS!

This weirdo rule has been actually been around for awhile I'm pretty sure. Several years, ago, I think either 2005 or 2006, the Bears got screwed by this rule when Bernard Berrian caught what everyone thought was the winning touchdown in the closing moments of the game (pretty sure it was against the Vikings). He was clearly in bounds, then fell out of bounds and had control, but when he rolled over to get up he let it go. I assumed during the ensuing week the league would send out an apology, but they maintained it was the correct call and explained the rule.

Ever since then I've been waiting patiently, biding my time for a similiar call to screw the other team. Today, if finally happened. Too bad the game was such a shitfest I couldn't enjoy it.

Yeah I know cool story.

If that wasn't a touchdown, I don't know what sport this is any more. Highway robbery.

Today's "win" pales in comparison to how we're going to feel when Phillips/Angelo/Smith come back for '11.

As I said in another section, Johnson blatantly did a two handed push right in front of the ref to get himself open. It wasn't called. That's an interpretation of a rule that went in the Lions favor on the same play. So enough of this blah, blah, blah about his catch. It should have been wiped out by a competent ref anyway.

The Bears did everything but score in this game. They dominated offensively and owned the Lions even with Stafford in defensively.

GREAT game by the LB today. Urlacher looked like his old self. Pisa was fantastic. Briggs made big plays all day.

I was glad to see Moore have a nice game as the nickle back.

Tommie Harris came to play today.

It really is great finally having a backup running back who isn't a drop off from the starter. I loved the way Forte and Taylor complemented each other.

Good to see Cutler scramble when it was there.

My feeling from the stands seems to be much different from you couch monkeys. Take away the fumbles deep in Lion territory and this game is a blowout.
