I may be the only person who gives a shit about this game and that's only because I have Jaime Garcia on my fantasy team and this week starts the World Series. GO CARDS and BIG LEAGUE CHOO!

Tonight marks the return of The Shark. We shall find out whether or not he has any movement on his fastball and a 2nd pitch he can locate.

Aram is back. Colvin is batting 8th for some reason. The cardinals are doing that weird thing where they bat the pitcher 8th. I can't wait for this one to get started.

The Shark is so far so good through 4. He had a rough 3rd, but is still hanging zero's on the Cards. His ERA had gone from 18+ to 8.95 already.

What happened to Castro? He was in the original lineup and then apparently vanished?

Relatively nice outing for the Shark.

There's your #4 starter for the "2011 And Beyond Ricketts Payroll Dump." Although, ironically, Samardzija has the largest rookie contract of all time. Awesome, Hendry!

The Shark is still young enough where giving up on him is moronic. He was rushed. People are so dumb. If a pitcher isn't Kerry Wood from day one or a hitter Frank Thomas they think they suck while in reality the list of players who wind up being good that took a bit to blossom is much longer than the one of those that were great from day 1.

Also the Cubs will not lose 100 games as they won their 63rd game.

I disagree with this. To whom are you attributing these comments?

Good call to whomever had the presence of mind to get him away from lou and get him back to AAA where he could spend the duration of the AAA season regaining command and developing his secondary pitches. I am thinking it was Wilkin who said he would get him straightened out if he could get him out of the pen and have the entire season to work with him.

Its cool to see guys move up fast when you have shit in the bullpen like grabow, but in hindsight this isn't working for the cubs. Cashner is going to need the same treatment.

I believe they refer to them as rallies in Elmhurst.

He did allow tons of baserunners etc. It definitely seemed that he worked on a 2nd and 3rd pitch and all of them seemed to have improved movement.

Obviously we ridiculously overpaid, but doing that against a team with still hopes for the Division is encouraging. Hopefully a winter in Mexico will allow him to be a contributing member of the rotation next year.

Is he officially going to the mexican winter league?

Don't be negative. Cubbiegirl might start a thread about tube socks.

Why is Castro not playing again? After getting pulled from the posted lineup I saw last night he is out again tonight? Did he piss off quade again?

He has some cortisone injected into his elbow or something like that last night. He is available to pinch hit.

Is it too early to use the broom word? Colvin with a nice 3 run bomb. If they hold on they will be 14-7 under Quade. The little shot in the ass a team usually gets with a manager change should have worn off by now. While this team is still not good, at least he players seem to kinda sorta give a shit now. Thanks for the first 3/4 of the season Lou.

I agree with teh pinella comment, but the only way to make any of these fuckers give a shit is to misplace their paycheck. its easy for guys like ramirez to start hitting when the pressure is off. derek lee was good at this--once they were 12 games out, he would hit a tater or two per game, end up with 30 hrs and the announcers would crow about the "wonderful" season he had. of course, when he was bouncing into 2 double plays a game in april, well that was all forgotten because he was a slow starter.

the only guys who give a shit now are the ones without a contrac
