(KMOV) -- Chicago Cubs rookie shortstop Starlin Castro may be old enough to play Major League baseball but he's not old enough to gamble.

News4 has learned that Castro was involved in a violation of Missouri gaming laws at Lumiere Place Casino on August 13th. The Cubs were staying at the Four Seasons Hotel and after their game that night with the St. Louis Cardinals, Castro and some of the players went downstairs to Lumiere Place Casino.

According to the Missouri Gaming Commission, a security guard failed to check Castro's identification which would have shown that he's only 20 years old. In less than 10 minutes another employee noticed he looked young, asked to see his ID and realized Castro was too young to be in the casino.

The state investigated and decided that criminal charges were not warranted. A Lumiere spokesman said that the casino provides training and equipment to its employees to try to prevent underage gambling. The gaming commission has not decided whether to fine Lumiere for the violation. Lumiere and other St. Louis area casinos have been fined for violations of underage gambling laws earlier this year. Click here to read about those incidents and the fines that were imposed.

Quade banned him from the hotel for two nights.

Nah, he just had to sit in the lobby and watch his teammates use the hotel.

Sore hip my ass. Quade needs to chill out on the hammer he keeps dropping. He is most likely well over 21 anyways.

Don Tiny, I believe is saying he looks 12. No Neck is saying he has a questionable birth certificate. I just hope he is great at baseball and isn't 42.

I remember it being a big deal that Andruw Jones got an underage DUI in Atlanta only to find he had an of age DUI. Castro looks young, but you never know. He is still going to look really young next year when he turns 21, unless he goes manny on his hair and grows out a huge beard.

Be that as it may, Jones may have looked young-ish; Castro looks like he's young enough that his testicles haven't descended.

If his birth certificate is wrong, I'm betting the over rather than the under.

Castro looks like he's 10. The Cubs players look younger to me as I get older.

The first player I thought looked like he barely needed to shave is remember how young Kerry looked when he came up?
