Fuck.

I can't blame him though. The Braves are such a better run organization than the Cubs it's not even funny. Couple that with their MLB roster AND minor league roster is better and if he's been told the job is his we never really had a chance

good...last thing we needed was another outsider

now if the yankees can keep girardi (which I believe will happen) then Hendry will be forced to make the right choice:

Sandberg

Right on whistler....We need to promote from within....How do you feel about Jody Davis....GREAT managerial candidate or GREATEST managerial candidate? Not that starry eyed bully Jim Hendry would ever consider him. amirite?

I've skimmed through this thread so I apologize if this has been addressed already. Has word leaked out yet as to why Hendry does not seem in favor of handing over the managerial reigns to Sandberg? Does he not believe in him, is it something personal or does he fear that if successful next year, Sandberg would get all the credit in the fans' eyes? I'm curious because it seems as though Hendry would love to name anyone but Ryno. Ultimately though, I believe the Ricketts' want him and he will get the job while Hendry will smile through gritted teeth and say "he was our guy all along."

I don't really know why he doesn't seem to like him for this job. The one thing though is that there is nothing Sandberg has done in his managerial experience that Quade has not. The real question is why Brenly won't even get an interview. He also seems to have a very large hard on for Eric Wedge for some reason.

Looks like Brenly is getting the interview after all. I gotta believe that too comes from the top. Back to Sandberg, I don't understand the thought process of him having to serve some sort of apprentice on another team's bench. The guy played in the Big Leagues for sixteen years, he knows the game. Either he has what it takes to manage or he doesn't. I'll fully admit that part of me wants him to get the job because of his Cub history. If that's being a meatball then so be it, but just like he should not get the nod solely based on that fact, I don't think it should be held against him.

If they somehow acquire the services of Girardi, will anyone at the presser have the guts to ask Mr. Hendry why Joe wasn't good enough four years ago, but now is a perfect fit?

There were a couple of us here that wanted Joe instead of Lou. Sadly, one is now gone and I am still here. Hendry is a boob.

Did Dave Kaplan leave us? Is he finally reuniting with Jim Kozimor?

Fuck Eric Wedge. Guy had one good season out of seven with one of those so-called, hyped-up "cores" that would contend for years and years to come. I'd prefer that the Chicago Cubs don't pattern themselves after the Milwaukee Bucks.

I'm a huge Ryne Sandberg fan...but I almost wish that he would tell Ricketts & Hendry to fuck off & take their job & shove it. I'm afraid that Hendry, who loves the old timers, may want to talk with Torre now.

Good call. I definitely don't want a guy who almost needs NEEDS TWO FUCKING HANDS for all of his world series rings to get the job over a minor league manager with zero major league experience.
