As Tyler Colvin was scoring from 3rd on what ended up being a ground-rule double to left, part of the bat which was broken on the hit, struck Colvin in the chest. The bat punctured Colvins chest, just above the heart. he's currently hospitalized in stable condition at Miami Hospital. There is no estimate on when he might return to play. He should make a full recovery with no residual effects.

And if you stopped wishing it were Rosevelt instead you would have seen the report where it was superficial and he got some sutures and he is fine.

A BIG SCARE TODAY IN BASEBALL- TYLER COLVIN RUNNING BASES WAS IMPALED IN THE CHEST BY A BROKEN BAT. THE PUNCTURE WAS NEAR HIS HEART, A HOLE IN HIS CHEST CAVITY. HE IS HOSPITALIZED FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS AT LEAST AND WILL BE OUT FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON. REALLY SCARY STUFF.

thats score reporting for you. once i raced to youtube i find out that it didnt even knock him down, and he barely felt it. then i realized THE ENTIRE SEASON meant a few games because the losing season is over anyway. what a joke, it wasnt bad at all even though its still is a little scary to think about.

It might not knock him down it might not have even really hit him so to speak until he reached the dugout.

It doesn't have to knock you down to hurt you badly.

Or wood that ends up in the shape of a cross that happens to catch fire.

With broken bats flying everywhere you knew something like this was eventually going to happen. Too bad it had to happen to such a promising young player (where is A-Pud when you need him??). Hopefully after this MLB will take a closer look at the problem and ban maple bats. I hope Colvin will be ok.

MLB has a huge problem as all the ash trees which make the good (non splintering) bats are dying from that asian beetle.

Bud Selig is a no good cocksucker....Maybe this useless piece of trash...this 'Traditionalist' will impanel a study group to look into this as bats go whizzing by their stone heads.
What about the idiot Players Union......The workplace is a bit dangerous....
MLB IS JUST A MONEY GRABBING PILE OF CRAP...QUALITY OF THE PLAY ON THE FIELD IS GARBAGE...SELIG AND THE UNION ARE BOTH AFTER THE SAME THING $$$$$$$$$$.
Fuck them all....and Bruce Levine can stop sucking Selig off.

oh shut up
the only money-grubbing operations are NFL and NBA...its horrible and sensationalistic

u are a horrible judge of character..Selig is old-school and nice and cares about the simplicity and peacefulness of the game...if it wasnt for him things would have spiraled out of control a long time ago

There's no bigger Selig sucker than Phil Rogers.

Hilarious. Simplicity? Letting the all-star game affect the World Series? Peacefulness? The Steroids Era can definitely be described as peaceful.

all-star game : yes, stupidest decision he ever made...i still cant figure out why he did that other than feeling the pressure from someone or something...that still pisses me off to this day...however, for now, i view this is a 1-time departure from his normal way of doin things

the steroids era began like any other problem anywhere...he ended up fixing the problem and did a good job in doing it..while at the same time, not trying to be obtrusive about it, and bragging that he did this or that, or doing a zillion phony interviews with ESPN like Stern does..

i love his laissez-faire mentality...he just sits back and enjoys the game...the antithesis of david stern and goodell, who want their name known as much as the players and who have iron fists...cmon, people think!...relish what you've got, it could be (and someday WILL be) worse

While I don't like a lot of what Selig has done he is behind the whole Stand Up to Cancer charity which has raised a lot of money and awareness.

Wow. You really are a moron. Professional sports are a business. ALL businesses are money-grubbing operations. If they weren't, and the used car salesman from Milwaukee actually didn't make the owners money, he wouldn't be commissioner right now.

That is fine and dandy, but he is still an awful commissioner.
