Martz won that game with his adjustments. Fuck having a head coach, just let lovie assume the title of team chaplain.

He wouldn't take a job away from his good friend Tony Dungy. This win feels really good.

This was a tremendous win. The offense adjusted and performed and prevented Dallas from doing anything on D. Many props to the adjustments. As far as defense goes, only giving up a td and 3 fgs, i"ll take it.

If the offense is good this season does Martz get a chance at the HC job next year?

Especially if he works really well with Cutler.

As I said before it is scary to think about what would happen if Cutler had a line and more talent at WR around him. You can still make an argument that the 2nd or 3rd best WR to play for a Chicago team today was the Cubs starting pitcher (Jeff S. pitched today for the Cubs).

What the hell happened? Cutler had his best game as a Bear by far today. 21-29? 277 yards, 3td NO picks?
Is the Wild Card in play after all?

It still looks strange to watch a Bears game & see the Bears running this offense. Its fun as hell.

this game was inspiring, insomuchas it has completely rinsed away the crusty film left over from last week's "victory." what really stuck out to me was when the game started off the cowboys D was essentially playing smear the queer with jay cutler, in just about two seconds he was running for his life, which i think he did an admirable job of doing. also, instead of going for superman throws whilst running for his life, he'd find tommie harris open on the sidelines.

but the biggest thing was martz's adjustments. i believe they were down 7-3 after that dez bryant punt return TD and all of us in chat were like "oh shit, here comes the beatdown" and i'm literally blurting out SLANT THEM TO DEATH MICKEY! SLANT THEM! and sure enough, they hit hester on a slant and then the next play with the box stacked and the middle of the field open a little lob-type-slant to g-reg and BOOM, he takes it to the house.

right as those two plays happened i had been counting to see how long cutler had, and he had two seconds, if that... shortening cutler's drops and having him do hot reads and slants really opened things up. after that, it seemed like dallas had to step back and respect the bears' ability to burn their blitzes and then the offensive line got some bravado and all of a sudden there's that 59 yard bomb to knox, there's that PA TD on a beautiful catch by hester.... they didn't run especially well, and i really do wonder why matt forte is in on short yardage (especially, you figure, cuz chester taylor is a better blocker AND receiver, i believe, altho 4te looks to be good there)

SOOOOOO even tho the running game doesn't exactly inspire me to get off the bus running, having a competent offensive coordinator who only took ~2 series to see that jay cutler was going to be smeared if they stubbornly stuck with a scripted game-plan is such a plus. this game, moreso than most others, really shows you that jay cutler has the raw talent to be a damn franchise QB. i mean, how often can we go out there and say that our quarterback is hands down better than the other team's? we're not used to that, and it will be interesting to see what happens with packers week, i mean, the packers rolled the bills today and from the looks of it the bills o-line wasn't doing a great job with them, but having seen what i saw today, i have some modicum of hope that martz can adjust out of the queer smearing mode and start attacking the other team. i can't remember a game where the pass rush was so effective, even for the first 2-3 drives, that was about as bad as it can get.

i still worry that the packers might be fiddin'ta drop 30+ on us next week (keep in mind the bears D only gave up 13 today, as 7 was for special teams) but at least i feel like we'd have a shot with a quality offensive coordinator and a franchise QB. i mean, they actually found good uses for hester, like that little screen or quick hitch pass where he did one juke and boom, down to the 5 to set up the touchdown for 4te. using greg olsen on that lob/slant over the blitz was a beautiful job of matchups. that playcall on the 59 yard pass to knox... yeah. this was the goods. this was a real damn offense with a real damn quarterback and a real damn offensive coordinator. i believe lil danny beeee calls it "big boy football"

anyways my bad on the novelization i just had to let that one out

I was on a long flight yesterday and missed the game. I had 16 points on the cowboys in my confidence pool, so I thought the bears had no chance. I saw a bounce back victory from the cowboys coming....and the Bears had barely beat the Lions. I did know the final score before I watched the game (taped) last night. The Bears played better no doubt. They certainly were coached & prepared better. As a Cowboys fan, I can only hang my hat on this being a long season, and the fact that no one in their division is 2 & 0. They look terrible though....and if this continues.....I see a Bill Cowher in their future.

walkrman5 I'll play you rock, paper, scissors for Cowher. :P

I watched the game late last night. I think the Cowboys game plan was to rattle Cutler. After Martz made the adjustments you guys talked about they had no answers. At that point they were defeated and it went from there. Really interesting to watch our coaches change things and the opposing team stand there with the blank looks we usually have. I don't want to like Martz but I'm starting to.

I saw what I've been wanting and expecting to see from Cutler. Good job and I hope it continues for years.

Omiayale did okay at LT which scares me. That line needs help and Brandon Manumaluena is not doing well.

The defensive line needs to do better.

It's weird to think that the Bears out-coached their opponent yesterday. Good to see regardless if it was Wade Phillips.

I cannot be certain of things until I hear BRick's analysis of Cutler after 2 games.

Whoa Bro. I need more quotes and more analysis than that. You have a standard to live up to around here man.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to watch the second half as I was on a plane back home. However, from what I saw, Cutler seems to actually fit pretty well in the strict system of Mike Martz. He isn't allowed to just go out and do what he wants. There really is only one option a lot of the time. He had some long throws but from the highlights I saw(can't see full games anywhere) he did a really good job on the short timing passes. I do wonder how long that Cutler will be willing to "follow the rules" of the Martz system. It helps when you are playing with the lead or only down a few points. I'm impressed with the team starting 2-0(though they probably should be 1-1) but I still think it's a 7-9 or 8-8 team at the end.

My judgment of D Hes is based on all of the games he has played at WR. He's had a lot more bad games at WR than good & hes still a #3 WR on any other team. 1 catch doesn't make him great.

Yeah it is. 2005 was great, but this is just fun for some reason. Most fun I have had watching a game in ever, in ever.

Totally reinvigorated my man crush on Cutler. D was swarming like '05. Christ was that good fun.
