Not sure what the think of this story. Not every day a 58 yr old school teacher gets shot in the head in Orland Park.

Schoolteacher Shot, Killed In Orland Park Home
Anita Jeanie Kustok Was Shot In Her HeadORLAND PARK, Ill. (CBS) ― Orland Park police investigate after schoolteacher Anita Jeanie Kustok, 58, was found shot to death in her home.

A 58-year-old schoolteacher was shot in the head in her Orland Park home, and later died.

Police received a call from Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights regarding the woman, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, an Orland Park police release said.

The woman -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Anita Jeanie Kustok, of the 10900 block of Royal Oaks Lane in Orland Park -- was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Officers learned a family member drove her to the hospital, the release said.

A letter sent to parents of students at Central Elementary School in Riverside indicated Kustok, who goes by her middle name, was a teacher at the school.

A social worker and psychologist will be on hand to speak to Kustok's students on Thursday, the letter said.

"Jeanie is a beloved member of our Central family and our prayers and thoughts are with her husband and her two children," the letter said.

Kustok is also the mother of Comcast SportsNet reporter Sarah Kustok and Zak Kustok, both former star athletes at Sandburg High School. Sarah played basketball at DePaul University, and Zak played quarterback for Northwestern University.

Orland Park police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are classifying this case as a death investigation pending the results of an autopsy on Thursday.

Nowhere near Elgin or Carpentersville, either.

That's terrible news. My prayers go out to her family and the students and faculty at her school.

Seems way too strange to be a random coincidence unfortunately. My
thoughts go out to her family and friends.

There really aren't even words to approach what that's gotta feel like ... as somebody who drives himself nuts trying to rationalize everything, something this irrational would probably put me down for some time.

ouch... GUNSHOT wound to the head.

RIP, this is tragic.

The fact she's a teacher makes it more tragic, as all those students, and previous students will never forget their teacher.

Sad.

I would guess she's at least aware of the board. I don't have issues with Frank C. as others do, so I'm going to chalk that up to a bad attempt at humor.

Im sure he'll edit.

Frank is not a jerk.

He's making the joke like she's a faceless celebrity but she's actually closer to the regular folk on here than that. Especially that she's from around here.

I'm not saying he is, that was my point. Your handle on it is well put RPB. When I saw that comment, I think my face made the smilie shock face. Very little shocks or bothers me, if it's funny. Gilbert's comment about the Greg Giraldo roast was funny, imo. However, if it was someone a little closer to home, I would still laugh at the cremation joke. Just not as much.

Enough with this. Best wishes to the family.

It was "my bad" for writing that they took her body to the hospital. The story actually says that she was driven to the hospital by the family member. That to me sounds like it might have been an accidental shooting.

Regardless of the circumstances....it is a horrible thing to happen and my condolences go out to them.

If it didn't make the story, my assumption was divorce, or that person is not under consideration as a suspect. You know what happens when we assume though. Let's not go crazy with speculation.

Not trying to speculate just asking a question. I am sure they are going to have to take the time to get all the facts before we hear anything.
