Worst Uncompensated Thievery of This Board's Intellectual Property:

No one's asking for a $10 an hour intern job but dolphin lives on more than occasional anonymous mentions...although I'm sure WR considers them better than $1,000 in Alan Brothers steaks.

Worst Idea during a Play by Play:
Keeping Tony Siragusa's mike open during a Fox broadcast. He adds nearly nothing to a game. He basically states the obvious and piles on to points made up in the booth and occassionally talks over his booth.

Worst use of slang during a broadcast
Brian Kinchen during the Iowa/NIU game in October calling a his description of a receivers hands being tender and caressing a ball - Gay. Yes, it sounded a bit gay, but you didn't need to tell me that it was. Enjoy ESPN U, you won't move past that with the Mouse.

Best all around knowledge on a sports show:
Sure it's from the competitors but Mulligan and Hanley do a quality job of knowing a good deal on all sports teams in town and are a good listen compared to the unlistenable show on ESPN 1000.

Don't forget whoever it was that suggested bringing back checking in on other stations web polls. I obviously don't remember, but I like that bit a lot.

Good call on this one - he is absolutely terrible. I think I can actually HEAR him getting fatter when he's not talking with a mouthful of hot dogs...

SEGMENT THAT IS ON LIFE SUPPORT:

Jurko vs. Harry...can we please screen the callers to ensure that they have a pulse at the very least? It's been very hard to listen to recently.

:D Me too, Doug. I thought I was the only one.

Also, if you caught him doing the demo of how to pounce on a loose ball a couple weeks ago, hilarious. I think some of his stuff is priceless in the humor department.

Most Hollow Promise Award

Dan McNeil stating 'I have to do a better job of getting to emails' on Friday - and then stating that Tank Johnson's Soap Opera on Thursday prevented more (actually 'any' would have been the correct word) emails from being read.

And then he read no emails on Friday.

Sometimes I bet the e-mails suck and don't bring much to the table or are redundant.

agreed with jurk vs harry. better callers needed- and they cant be afraid to go to the bullpen either. hell, id have no problem sitting on hold warming up of one of the callers are bad- especially if they were as bad as they were on friday. yikes.

and both have already been said before, but worst production/programming move is without question chris singleton. now, he did improve throughout the season, but going from rooney and farmer to farmer and singleton is like going from guiness to PBR. farmer was never 'great' but next to rooney he was the perfect color man, and his schtick worked for the 2 or 3 innings he'd call.

and for beat reporters, it doesnt get any better for me than JD covering the bears. JD is great at pretty much everything on the air, but he has really excelled the past 2 season on the bear beat. gets all the info he's supposed to, and it seems like he doesnt have a problem asking some of the 'tougher' questions that other reporters will avoid. when JD gets his own daily show, it will cast a black cloud over an otherwise sunny halas hall.

Beef are those pictures showing your affection for John Williams or just making fun?

He's actually not terrible and has some funny bits.

Maybe we can get Thomas Jefferson as ESPN legal expert for the Tank Johnson issues... :D

I think Beef gets a complex when he gets ignored. Maybe he emailed in a "Tank Johnson" Super Bowl Rumble verse and feels it never got a sniff and was better than 'bottom feeding algae eating fish' banter. Beef is probably like Glenn Close's character from Fatal Attraction - a psycho.

"Best Beat Reporter"
Joe Cowley - I thought his justification for the MVP vote was insane, but I think he does a good job of digging behind the scenes on his White Sox coverage.
"Worst Decision by an Executive"
"Whoever at FOX decided to buy the BCS games without having any analysts worth a crap"
"Worst Production"
So far, that answer if the NFL Network - their graphics are sometimes behind the action, quite a few technical glitches so far.
"Best Production"
TNT's NBA games - I believe the NBA TNT coverage is superb. Grade A, lots of good analysts, play by play with Collins/Kerr.
"Best Play by Play"
For as much criticism as they get sometimes, John Madden and Al Michaels are excellent. Madden isn't afraid to question play calling or execution, and Michaels despite his rather large ego, is still at his best. They work well together, Madden will break down why something happened, but they also try to keep the game what it should be, and that's entertaining. Thumbs up!
"Worst Play by Play"
Worst play by play announcer is B.Gumble on the NFL Network - he got the job because he's a big name, but he is unqualified.
Frank Gore is Al Gore ???
"Keeping the dream alive"
Collinsworth, who I usually like, doesn't even sound that good to me with Gumble butchering everything.
"Best Pre Game"
TNT's NBA Coverage with Ernie, Kenny Smith and Barkely - you don't even have to be an NBA fan to enjoy the comedy here.
"Worst Pre Game"
Anything involving Chris Berman - enough said.
"Best Columnist"
Hope you aren't afraid to give a guy at another station his props, but Mike Mulligan is a stud - the guy writes insightful columns most every day, and is objective.
"Wost Columnist"
Jay Mariotti - I think this past weekend will prove my point with the first of about 5 columns to come of the Bears running a criminal organization, and Mariotti on his high horse.

No kidding; can we get someone to go Jeff Gillooly on Berman's vocal cords or something? There's got to be a way to rid television of this colossal windbag.

If Berman was watching a taping of himself eating chips, would he make those grating "whoop" noises every time he took a chip out of the bag.. or every time he missed his mouth?

I'll go with 'every time he missed his mouth.'

Worst Reporting of an Exclusive- During the Mac-Harry suspension there was no available news to the consumers. Reporters and laymen alike were clamoring for more information regarding the interminable vacation. Then, a man with a degree in journalism and professional experience in reporting got an exclusive opportunity to talk to the players involved. Further he was given full permission to report his findings....and all we heard was that Harry does not know how to use a computer.

Worst use of an '85 Bear:
Any show that puts Steve McMichael on the air. The most notable case of this is the pregame show on ESPN 1000 with Chet Choppock who I am now growing very tired of. It's the delivery with him that gets me.

Best use of an '85 bear on the radio:
Tom Thayer as color man - he provides quality analysis of events in the game that are hard to describe on the radio.

I would dispute that. Did Harry give the OK? Did Schwartz? Did Pastor? No, no, and no. Mac couldn't have cared less but those people were also involved one way or the other with the meeting or what not. Wasn't much to report anyway and it wasn't my intention to "get the story." Still, I'll accept the honor. Thanks gd.

Worst decision by an Exec- The constant need to show coach/manager/player and or fan reactions to plays. I don't care to see how they react to a close play. Give me the replay! Examples: Ozzie Guillen, "Chucky" Gruden, and my favorite....Brady Quinn's horse-faced sister in her 2 team jersey.

Worst beat reporter Jim Hendry's bunkmate Bruce Levine. His condescending attitude sucks. What have you done lately Bruce? Gotten Ed Lynch p-o'ed 20 years ago when he was with the Mets?? Keep it.

Best beat reporter Jeff Dickerson. As many have stated, he seems to bring some insight other than the Bear's company line that we can hear or read elsewhere.
