i'm going to go ahead and call this one in the bottom of the 5th. while their offense isn't technically bad, it clearly missed morneau who was off to his career year. mauer getting hurt down the stretch obviously didn't help, as he's hitting a robust .182 as of this posting.

in the end, their lack of frontline starting pitching did them in. liriano isn't quite what he was before the surgery (4ER in 5.2IP) and then the magic pixie dust wore off of pornstache pavano (4ER and 10H in 6IP) and duensing (5ER, 7H in 3.1IP).

on the plus side, this 2010 team managed to open their new ballpark and play well enough to get homefield advantage in round 1 of the playoffs despite having a worse record than their opponent. it was an inspiring year that saw them overcome a then-good white sox team when both were playing really well before the whitesox cordially handed them the division. lamentably, in the playoffs they just got outperformed in every aspect of the game. in a do or die game three they have laid down on their deathbed and called up dusty to get the number of the greek orthadox priest to come over and perform their last rites (he can hightail it back to cincinnati for dusty and the boys tomorrow).

when it's all said and done and we look back at the inspirational 2010 minnesota twins season, i reckon jim thome got some new hunting buddies this year.... and in the end that's really what counts, right?

I don't know, even if they lose this one, I still think the Twins can come back and win. You forget they have home-field advantage.

has the brand retired from posting aside from the occasional sox diss? methinks the twins going out like bitches would be another argument he could make for the whitesox being really shit.

if he's stopped posting, is it ok to be white in carpentersville once again?

No problem. ES will just jump on another bandwagon and say he's admired the team all season. Complete will supporting stats freshly picked off baseball-reference.com, of course.

the twins just showed signs of life... they got the deficit down to 6-1 with the bases loaded and only one out in the top of the 8th... but they encountered the veritable brick wall known to us mortals as boone logan. jason kubel was clearly overmatched and promptly popped out. knowing that boone had put the dagger right in the twins back, the yankees then went to david robinson to finish the inning. you don't want to put too much tape on boone logan out there, you know.

will they even need the sandman tonight? i don't think so. at least they'll have a few days off, as i figure tommy hunter and my rangers might have some issues tomorrow, setting up a game 5. hope i'm wrong.
