Bernstein mentioned this in passing during transition today. According to Bernstein, Cutler claimed he wanted another novice-to-the-Martz-system QB so they could learn the system at the same time. Of course, that makes zero sense from the Bears POV. Why wouldn't you bring in a QB experienced in the Martz offense to provide a reliable backup as well as help tutor Jay.

Bernstein suggested that Jay was concerned that he'd be the next Trent Green to Bulger's Kurt Warner.

Wonder if Cutler was also in favor of the Bears leaving LeFevour unprotected.

Why would anyone at Halas give a goddamn what a fuck like Cutler has to say?
What's he won?

Didn't Halas Hall make Martz fly down to Tennessee and blow Jay in person to get the job?

You'd think you'd want 1 of your backups to be a guy familiar with Martz' system and the other backup to be a younger prospect with at least some shot at doing the job on a full-time basis. LeFevour's strength in college was game management--isn't that the QB's primary role in Martz' system? vs gunslinger.

This doesnt make sense. Collins knows the system. If he wanted someone knew to the system (dumbest thing Ive ever heard) it wouldnt be Collins

Perhaps he requested someone bad?

When were Martz and Collins on the same team at the same time, or when was Collins on a Martz system roster?

I'm not seeing it in either of their CV's.

I'm not sure being Trent Green's (the guy Martz dropped for Kurt Warner) backup = Collins knowing Martz' system.

And to answer your question, they give a fuck what Cutler says because they gave him a shit ton of money and they and they anointed him the "franchise QB."

If this is true it's even more reason to fire Jerry & Lovie. Bulger would look a hell of a lot better than Todd Collins today. Fuckers.
