If you turned on Comcast SportsNet this past Friday or Sunday night hoping to find "The SportsWriters on TV" complete with "Pop Up Video"-like updates and couldn't find it, there's a reason why.

According to ChicagolandRadioandMedia.com and the Trib's Phil Rosenthal, a dispute has surfaced between the regional sports network & producer John Roach. Although CSN has some 6,000 episodes of the classic sports talk show with the late Ben Bentley, Bill Gleason, Rick Telander, Bill Jauss & Joe Mooshil at the roundtable, producer John Roach and CSN bosses are now at odds over compensation that suddenly surfaced "at the 11th hour." Roach, who produced the shows for his production company John Roach Projects, Inc., actually owns the rights to the groundbreaking show which aired originally from 1985-98 on the defunct SportsChannel Chicago & FOX Sports Net Chicago. The shows had been airing Fridays & Sundays at 11p on CSN, with episodes also available online at CSNchicago.com for about a month before they suddenly disappeared from the schedule this past weekend.

I hope they work this out and start airing them again, however I'd guess they won't want to compensate Roach for this. :(

I think that's why CSN isn't airing "The SportsWriters on TV" for the foreseeable future...

Infomercials would probably get better ratings.

No, this show was good stuff, and watching them has brought back good memories of stuff I watched in the days of my youth.

Does The Odd Couple count since Oscar was a sportswriter? I love that show.

Hmmm..."The Odd Couple" was actually based on the Neil Simon play, and Jack Klugman played sloppy Oscar Madison on the classic '70s sitcom, and I believe the late Walter Matthau was the sloppy sportswriter in the 1968 movie.
